WE must make a response to the 'liberal' media
As long as the Media and the Republican Party have an Alliance, the people will only hear what the Republican Party wants them to hear.

We have to stop them if we want everybody to think for themselves.

Michael Moore's 'Be your own media' was a good start, but the problem with it is that it wouldn't reach mass amounts of people.

I think a solution lies on the internet.

Take for example. Although my group only has 47 people in it, I once used a tool and not only found that a lot more people than that read Anti-CNP (because the Archives are public), I also discovered that people from all over the world also read it too.

A Solution to the problem of the Conservative media will not be an easy one, but I believe many of us should chip in and help if we wish to create something that can compete with the so-called 'liberal' Media.

1. Satellite radio is good
Surprisingly, Google News is getting more and more pro Bush. It was my homepage during the elections, and articles on Kerry were already few then, right now it's as if the democratic voice is non existent there.

Suppose the repubs figured out how google news works??

2. Propaganda is much less effective when people see it as such
Just calling 'bullshit' on the worst of the MSM propaganda will go along way toward defusing it. They are spending their credibility daily. Americans aren't as used to reading between the lines as people in other countries but they are, I think, better at it than we tend to give them credit for.

The MSM was after Clinton from the time he got the nomination. They parrotted "Whitewater" and called everything "___-gate" (as if it were all as impeachable as Watergate). The media has been blatantly biased for decades but it is recently that they have diverged so far from reality that they have all the credibility of Bagdad Bob.

There is Hope. During the worst of the media's attack, Clinton's numbers soared. I take this as evidence that there is only so much power that broadcast media (drive time radio/TV) has. They can say 'night is day' all they want -- most Americans will still say 'night is night.'

I agree that the internet is a great base for nurturing a viable alternative media. In the short run, I try to turn as many people as possible on to the alternative media that already exists: TDS, Keith Olberman, AAR.

3. Operation Red Alert: Grocery store blogging
From the 'be the media' files: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/12/20/74646/846

Good Morning Ladies and Gents. Operation: Red Alert is officially in session to nominate and discuss potential messages for use this week.

For those who don't know, OpRA is an effort which we have started to essentially blog local bulletin boards, bringing news to light that people will be likely to have missed. Our messages are short (less than 100 words) and sweet (point out GOP hypocrisy or other malfeasance).

4. cool - I had done some of this on my own recently
My local weekly newspaper has an anonymous "speak out" section and my goal is to get at least 1 letter in there a week.

Recently, I had something about Congress spending $2 million for a presidential yacht, but cutting to zero the program to track black market assault rifles.

And, somebody else has joined me on this, as I've seen "radical clerics" in there twice now in referring to Robertson & Falwell.

5. I take it upon myself to write them at least one letter daily.
And btw, who's tired of all this Save Christmas nonsense? Can you believe they get all this airtime every day on the news? It's so disgusting that we can't even get a report on civilian casualties in Iraq, or the death of Gary Webb investigated, but they cram all this Scott Peterson, Merry Christmas crap down our throats.
