U.S. troops in Iraq without long underwear.
Add this to the shortage of armor. A parent of a soldier was asking for long underwear to be sent to soldiers in Iraq (source local weekly newspaper sorry no link).

I do not understand the shortage of armor kits, but long underwear?

1. We'd all like to put our long johns one leg at a time,
but you do this with the long johns you're given not those that you want.

2. Everyone in Iraq will be freezing together
Since there is no electricity in Baghdad and kerosine is almost impossible to buy, everyone will be shivering around candles this winter.

Guess with the security problems along trucking roads, the longjohns are probably sitting around in a warehouse in Kuwait.

4. That is what they were wanting send underwear by mail.
My son bought several pairs when he saw the article. He knew the soldier from high school. I find this really sad.

9. I just checked.
Baghdad is at 37.5 F. The desert may be much colder. Sounds like long underwear temperatures to me.

11. You learn something new everyday
Well, once again, this begs the question, why did anyone ever settle in that hellhole?

12. Remember this the true cradle of western civilization.
Centuries of warfare has made it a hell hole.

15. Fair point.
I'm just being goofy anyway. No one is at work today. I'm lonely.

7. they've got long underwear
just not mountaineering super high tech underwear. its the standard waffle weave POS long underwear we all wore in the 70s.

and its nice to have a change of underwear, though. tends to get a bit RIPE!

8. the regulation "long underwear" is called poly-pros or "sniffle gear"
I have access to the gear. If anyone needs it for their soldier...relative, friend...whatever, let me know and we can work something out to get the needed clothing item to the soldier.

Just PM with the info.
