Poll question: Who would you vote for in Connie Morella vs. Zell Miller?
I always see questions like this, but now I can get an official tally.

1. My answer
I grew up in her district through most of my childhood and early adult life. She was a very good Congresswoman even though she was a Republican.

BUT

If Senate control were at stake I would vote for Zell as long as he supported the Dem leadership. If Senate control were not at stake I would support Morella.

5. I know this is not directed at me
but I gave some money to Hagan when he ran against Traficant who voted for Republican leaders in 98.

11. If they don't vote for the leadership then
I don't see why I should support them.

7. Same
Grew up in Montgomery County and I've met her many times. She's a very kind person. I agree, if it were up to control, then I'd vote for Miller. Otherwise, definitely Morella.

4. I marked my vote as Miller
but in reality it would be a vote for
Graham chair of Intellegence
Kennedy chair of Education
Biden chair of Judiciary
Levin chair of Armed Services
Lieberman chair of Govt Affairs
Hollings chair of Commerece
Byrd chair of Appropriations
and others I can't remember of the top of my head. Party matters, it matters alot.

6. Connie
I have voted for only 2 Republicans in my whole life for any office, but Zell Miller crosses what I think is a pretty high bar for me. If you support the other party substantially more often than you do your own, I see no point in giving you my vote. I'm not like SOME people who piss and moan about liberals like John Kerry over one rollcall vote here or there.

8. Miller.
As distasteful as he is and as nice as Morella is, I would still choose Miller.

I used to have some sympathy for the old "vote the person, not the party" approach, but no more. Voting for even the sweetest l'il ole Republican you ever did see puts more power in the hands of DeLay, Frist, Bush, Falwell, etc.

Some day, if the GOP is no longer in the grasp of lunatics, we might once again have the luxury of voting for candidates as individuals rather than as members of parties.

9. Morella, of course
It's a no-brainer.

Why vote for a conservative Democrat when you can have a liberal Republican?

And I'm not a partisan yellowdog, so there's no way in hell I'd give my vote to Zell!

10. I would not vote for a GOP
as long as they have control of all branches of the Govt. THey control committees, they control what goes to the floor. They control the bathroom keys, for all I know.

I'd love to see some liberal Republicans in office, but as long the the RW controls the moves, I'll stick to voting Dem.

12. The only Republican I would have voted for
would have been RINO Lowell Weicker when he ran against Lieberman. I was a Weicker supporter back then due to his progressive views and liberal voting record. BTW, Weicker is now an independent.

You can guess who voted for the third party option in this poll.
