19. There's still a case for calling it terrorism |
|
Attacking a military installation is certainly a step up from attacking the usual civilian targets. However, unless the attack itself was carried out by uniformed military, we still consider it to be a terrorist attack.
Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions gives certain rights and protections to geurilla insurgents. However, the U.S. has never ratified that protocol, and has, in fact, explicitly rejected it. We therefore fall back on our own laws to cover this situation.
Until we know more, it's hard to say more about the attack - but it is possible we will, legitimately, classify it as a terrorist attack.

The freeps don't like it when they realize just how fucked this situation is and that our troops get no real respect from the vile pig they voted into the White House. They prefer to re-insert their heads in their asses rather than see the cold reality this "conservative" policy has wrought. Ahhh, the vile stench of ignorance....

20. No, there's just a spread |
|
There are 6 separate threads on free republic discussing the attack. It's a big topic of discussion. And while there are some over-the-top responses, overall it's a serious discussion.

22. I know how you feel. I read a couple of threads |
|
on the Mosul attack. What really struck me was the degree of denial and magical thinking applied to the situation in Iraq. It boggles the mind. They keep parroting that the attacks are proof that the insurgency is in it's death throes, and they believe that once the election takes place, all will be well. If they're not engaged in this sort of bullshit, they're roaring about nuking and how we need to increase torture. Sick puppies.

13. It's the Clintons' fault because there would be more troops if Clinton had |
|
not cut the armed services in half.
That is why there are having to use the Reserves and now the National Guard so heavily.
No Wait, they cannot claim that because ... they are not only keeping them longer (because they can), but they are heavily recruiting for the Reserves and the National Guard because they do not have to pay them hazardous pay (even though they are the ones driving the convoys with supplies), plus, they don't pay them as much as the military, plus they have absolutely no benefits, and they can keep them there forever.
Seen any commercials for the military lately or more for the National Guard.
Almost forgot, they are offering up to $15,000.00 sign-on bonuses to those right out of high school. They are buying our children for a cheap amount of money that seems like a fortune to a high-school graduate. Evil . . . pure evil . . . Christian my ass.

<snip>
This is horrible. It's really getting hard for me to continue to support the war. I'll always support the troops but when stuff like this happens, I cringe and just feel awful. What do you all suggest President Bush to do? I don't think sending in more troops will fix this. I am also surprised this topic doesn't have that many messages. Did I miss a thread from earlier today?

18. I've been banned at Free Republic for two centuries. |
|
I've registered and posted under at least 10 nicks -- using the e-mail adresses of friends and family until I finally ran out of fresh ones.
I was a member very early -- soon after it changed from "The Whitewater Forum" -- and stayed a member for about three years before they discovered me to be a so-called troll (meaning someone who makes a freeper confront an uncomfortable truth). On the day I was banned, there was actually a thread posted in celebration of that fact -- which had over 100 posts sying good riddance. Since then, I've never been able to last longer than a month or two.
I never broke a single one of Rimjob's 'posting guidelines' either.
Just spoke the truth.
