Spot the bias.
Via Kos.

Quick question. Is the following quote 1) a Bush Administration press release, or 2) a supposedly neutral AP wire story?

President Bush's campaign to make the tax code simpler, fairer and more pro-growth is likely to involve incremental changes to the current system rather than a sweeping effort to scrap the venerable income tax for a radically new approach, such as a national sales tax.

Answer here.

If you could keep the giant WWIII headline font posting to a minimum, that would be great, please.

9. National sales tax?
I can see a barter economy mushrooming overnight. At least that's what I will do. I'll trade you a dozen of my eggs for a small basket of your produce. No money changes hands. No taxes. Period. Do it. These crooks deserve to be beaten at their own game. Seems like the internet is the ideal way to do it too.

11. We should do it.
The national sales tax is a way to make the poor pay the lion's share of the taxes. We really should organize this if it comes to pass. We should also get anyone involved in poor neighborhoods to pool their services or goods as well.

We can call ourselves the socialist resistance or something equally French and commie sounding.

14. Let's see how this plays out.
I might start putting stuff down on paper for future reference though. You should as well, you know ideas and stuff.

I do know that a certain amount of barter goes on around here among professionals. Like my attorney neighbor handled his landscapers divorce for free inexchange for free landscaping. No money exchanged hands, so there was no income and no taxes.

I was piqued at the time because I thought of it as typical Repuke cheating on their taxes, but if they are getting all these legal tax breaks now from (*), we might as well cheat. You can be sure when the tax money stops flowing in, then they will be looking around at all those huge Republican incomes to tax again.

in the black market economy. Does anybody know of a source of ideas/resources?
