Edited on Wed Dec-22-04 11:00 AM by pstokely
who are these people moving to them? are they just repukes to begin with or do they turn repuke when they move to them? could Nevada and Arizona become bigger battleground states than PA or Ohio (states losing population)? anyone here live in these places?

3. An interesting stat... and it isn't just at the state level.

Apearently, of the 100 fastest-growing counties... 97 are red.

That whole "exurb" thing is scary!

6. Maybe some of the people moving are Dems
Perhaps some of these red states will become less red. Florida wasn't a battleground state really until 1996, when Clinton won it. It was solid red for years before that.

5. Big states with lots of undeveloped land, attracting RWers
I grew up in AZ, and lived there from '69 to '97.

IMHO: It's all about the land, even though it's desolate. It's primarily flat and easy and cheap to build on, and they'll pump every precious drop of water out of the ground that they can in order to sell their godawful subdivision houses to the poor idiots who think they're getting something special.

The state now seems a lot more conservative than it used to be. But then again, I'm more awake now than I used to be. It could just be my change of perspective.

7. Arizona is growing from minority influx I thought. New immigrants and
latino americans from CA are coming there.

This is, at least, according to my cousin who lives in Phoenix. Of course, they live in a nice fancy suburb and use a few other choice words when describing them. So maybe their perspective is off.
