General Myers basically said situation in Iraq not winnable militarily !?
I swear I heard him say that in the press conference with Dummy today. They were having a press conference about the attack in Mosul being a suicide bomber in the mess, not a rocket, not a mortar.

Went right over every reporters head, so no follow-up on his statement within the press conference. But I came here and can find no threads about the press conference. I caught it on MSNBC. There was a point in it where Myers said it was not winnable militarily. Honest I know he said it. Anybody can find a transcript of his comments in the press conference?????

4. Myers gotta be about
the dumbest son of a bitch we ever had at the pentagon. Thank something he wasn't around for WWII or we'd be speaking German. I'm sure he'll change his position when he's told to.

3. check out this picture

IMHO it WAS a rocket with something coming INTO the Tent not a blast going out of the tent.

But I am just a computer geek what do I know :)

6. Interesting thing about rocket vs. suicide bomb.
Halliburton has delayed building the concrete mess hall because of employee safety.

Had this function not been privatized, soldiers would have built it, and contrary to delaying the building because of concern for their safety, they would have expedited building.

So, why is the rocket now a bomb exploded within the mess tent?

When a bomb explodes inside a concrete room, the pressure is contained within the room, and causes more damage.

If a bomb explodes inside a tent, it will blow out the walls of the tent, and much of the force will be dissipated outward.

Example from the past: When Hitler was bombed, it was in a temporary shelter, and his arm was damaged. Had it been in their usual meeting place, he likely would have been dead.

I think they are calling it a bomb so that people will not criticize Halliburton for not having finished the concrete mess hall.

8. Good point
plus it covers up accurate rockets / mortars and pins it on a crazy bomber.

7. Too many DU'ers don't understand this ...
Edited on Wed Dec-22-04 06:06 PM by welshTerrier2
i still keep seeing threads on DU saying that we have to stay in Iraq because, now that bush made such a mess there, we have an obligation to the Iraqi people and that it would be wrong to withdraw our troops ...

well, we may have an obligation, but occupying THEIR country with OUR military is the wrong way to fulfill that obligation ...

wake up, DU'ers and tell the Democratic Party to get a clue too ... get this through your heads ... NO MATTER HOW LONG THEY STAY, THE U.S. MILITARY WILL NEVER SUCCEED IN IRAQ ...
