Thom Hartman is excellent

I'm just listening to him sitting in for Randi Rhodes. I'm absolutely loving his show. He's not funny like Randi or Malloy but he is brilliant and he really knows how to talk to people. I'm really enjoying his show, hopefully he'll become a regular fixture on Air America I would love to be able to hear him more regularly.

There are times that he gets as passionate as Malloy.
I would also like to hear him regularly, but could not decide who he should replace. I like everyone who is there now....

I just reread his book The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight. It is a truly amazing book. He puts so many different fields of knowledge into language which is not only easy to understand, it can be quite beautifal and profound. I want to get his book The Prophet's Way. Anyone have recommendations of other authors? Always, reading.

I did not know he was subing for Randi. I though she was on vacation for the holidays, and therefore all the AAR Randi shows would be the "best of Randi Rhodes" things, so have not tuned into that stream for a couple of days.

...Thom Hartman should have a regular show on Air America. I've really enjoyed his two fill-in shows this week for Randi Rhodes. The guy is great. I am about to read his book, What Would Jefferson Do?, and have one of his other books on order.

9. Hartman has a daily show on Sirius

It used to be three hours, but now is split: an hour at noon and the balance at night. He's so much better than Lynn Samuels, and I'd rather have her on in the middle of the night.

He brings great historical perspective to today's issues and only seems to fall down in his choice of wingnuts he brings on the show. Sometimes those discussions go round and round with no real point made.

10. I have been a Thom Hartmann fan for years

When the ieamericaradio station was on the internet - Thom Hartmann, Mike Malloy and Peter Werbe were my absolute favourites.

If it were not for them I would have been anti-American rather than the anti-Bush cohorts!!

Besides listenig to Thom and Mike daily, I listen to Peter every Monday morning. He is also like Thom, able to speak to the callers and win the argument by a series of intelligent analytical questions. But he can be very aggressive when required.

Mike, however, is a master of presentation.

These three are the true professionals of the Talk Show business!! Not Al, not Sam, not Randi. Of late I have added Laura Flanders as also being a great professoional Talk Show host.

In Thom Hartmann's case, his Friday first hour where he has "Brunch with Bernie" segment with the only independent congressman from Vermont, Bernie Sanders, is truly outstanding!!

Thom also brings on guests who hold diametrically opposng viewpoints to himself and carries out intelligent discussions with them - and in all cases wins the argument by reason!!

And you are spot on regarding Laura Flanders. Her show is one of the most intelligent. It would be great to add Amy goodman into the mix. I think AAR could find a spot for Democracy Now.

Bernie Sanders is one of the LAST TRUE DEMOCRATS, though he is technically an Independent.
