Why is Myers lying on this?
Myers has made a statement that the attack in the camp at Mosul was by a suicide bomber who infiltrated the camp.

This appears to me to be a lie as in several reports before that, the statements were about a rocket attack on the tent.

I looked at several pictures of the tent and noticed that the angle of the tent opening fabric where it was ripped open was pointing inwards which shows that it was something that ENTERED the tent and not that it was blown outwards by an explosion inside the tent.

What could be the reason for this deliberate misinformation?

I heard on Majority Report that Myers was trying to equate this to a terrorist attack SIMILAR to 911. This was a legitimate military target on an occupying force!!

It is shameful that an US Army Officer of this level has to resort to lies!!

What has become of the US Army?

It seems now to be an extension of the Bush malAdministration rather than a force interested in looking after the interests of American people or the soldiers in its command!!

1. The material is not rigid

after being ripped, the remainder will succumb to gravity.

2. Wouldn't the ripped tent fabric...
...point inwards regardless of the direction of the blast? Gravity and all.

3. All reports are now saying...
it was a suicide bomber. They have evidently found the torso and what's left of the backpack that the bomb was in. The hole in the roof of the tent would automatically droop down due to gravity.

4. It was clearly a bomb...
The overpressure inside a structure like that would cause a tear directly over the blast point. If it was a rocket or mortar, WHY would the attackers only fire ONE?

8. Read the news reports and hear what the soldiers said

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/264513p-226496c.html

"That was a lucky shot, the soldiers reasoned. Mortars are notoriously difficult to fire accurately. And lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place."

"Deafening blasts knocked soldiers off their feet and out of their seats as what is believed to be a 122-mm. rocket slammed into the tent.

The direct hit was followed by a fireball that devoured the roof of the mess tent and rained pellet-sized pieces of shrapnel on the stunned soldiers."

This is not the work of a suicide bomber!!

There is an agenda for claiming it was a suicide bomber!!

15. they had been under mortar fire for days, but no hits
I guess their aim got better, if true. Perhaps they don't waqnt people to think that they were warned, as it were, in advance that they might be hit, but did nothing to protect the soldiers, such as ending large communal meals. Djathink? Leadership in this thing has been abysmal.

5. If this is a lie, it will be bad for both Iraqis and our troops
Edited on Wed Dec-22-04 09:47 PM by Robbien
because as Back2Iraq says:

What the hell? How the hell does this happen? He must have had help from inside, which means the Iraqis working with U.S. forces in the bases have just had their lives changed forever. Whatever bonds of trust between Iraqis working with U.S. forces have been frayed — perhaps to the breaking point.

I’m just stunned that insurgents were able to get inside and do this.

So if another lie it would be one to save face of military brass at the expense of our troops and Iraq.

Halliburton has delayed building the concrete mess hall because of employee safety.

Had this function not been privatized, soldiers would have built it, and contrary to delaying the building because of concern for their safety, they would have expedited building.

So, why is the rocket now a bomb exploded within the mess tent?

When a bomb explodes inside a concrete room, the pressure is contained within the room, and causes more damage.

If a bomb explodes inside a tent, it will blow out the walls of the tent, and much of the force will be dissipated outward.

Example from the past: When Hitler was bombed, it was in a temporary shelter, and his arm was damaged. Had it been in their usual meeting place, he likely would have been dead.

I think they are calling it a bomb so that people will not criticize Halliburton for not having finished the concrete mess hall.

11. What won't they lie about?
If we're ever told the truth about anything by this administration - then we'll have reason to question what they're up to.

12. Dick Myers Lie?
You don't mean Dick Myers, the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staffs, who on 9-11, after hearing that a jet crashed into the WTC, who surely was aware of the August 6 PDB, decided to duck into Senator Cleland's office for donuts and coffee only to come out after the second jet plowed into the WTC and the third jet hit the Pentagon? This Richard Myers lie? Noooooo! He wouldn't. Not that Dick Myers.

(Is that what we mean when we claim our forces "stood down" on 9-11?)

14. No kidding?
"the same insurgents who were responsible for 911"?

Let me guess how the rest of the interview went (I give highlights only here)...

Myers: Do you realize that fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous communist plot we have ever had to face?

Myers: Stay with me Reporter. Myers and Reporter crawl to one side of desk. Alright, Reporter, now feed me. Feed me.

Myers stands and exchanges fire with attacking troops. Enemy fire subsides.

Reporter: laughs Jack, don't you think we'd be better off in some other part of the room, away from all this flying glass?

Myers: Ah, naah. We're ok here. Reporter, do you realize that in addition to fluoridated water, why, there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk, ice cream? Ice cream, Reporter. Children's ice cream?

    Reporter: Good Lord.

Myers: You know when fluoridation first began?

Reporter: No. No, I don't, Jack. No.

Myers: Nineteen hundred and forty six. Nineteen fortysix, Reporter. How does that coincide with your postwar commie conspiracy, huh? It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual, and certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard core commie works.

Reporter: Jack... Jack, listen, tell me, ah... when did you first become, well, develop this theory.

Myers: Well, I ah, I I first became aware of it, Reporter, during the physical act of love.

    Reporter: sighs fearfully

Myers: Yes a profound sense of fatigue, a feeling of emptiness followed. Luckily I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence.

    Reporter: Yes...

Myers: I can assure you it has not recurred, Reporter. Women... women sense my power, and they seek the life essence. I do not avoid women, Reporter, but I do deny them my essence.

    Reporter: Heh heh... yes.

Cut to: ext. Burpleson AFB. Firefight settles into a surrender of Myers's defending troops.

(Borrowing from Dr. Strangelove, substituting "Myers" for "Ripper" and "Reporter" for "Mandrake"...)

Scary part is they dropped the bomb at the end of the film...
