Precisely,197 have lost their lives, plus 10 American "contractors" and 8 "coalition" soldiers. The reported wounded is 1481.

During the invasion's so-called period of "major combat," only 140 were killed.

People become accustomed to the craziest shit.

4. Unfortunately,
people only seem to notice when there has been a large number of soldiers killed ar one time, like the mess tent bombing. They don't acknowledge the deaths that come every day, and after the sensationalism dies out their heads go back into the sand, or their ass whichever is closer.

5. And a new, unspecified number of "sustainable losses" this morning:
FALLUJAH, Iraq (AP) - U.S. Marines battled insurgents in Fallujah on Thursday with warplanes dropping bombs and tanks shelling suspected guerrilla positions, causing deaths on both sides, as the first 200 residents returned to the battered city.

...

Officials said U.S. Marines were killed but would not specify the number. Several insurgents were also killed, they said.
