I was just about to fire off an e-mail to the christian taliban and thought to myself...
While I know I'm on at least a few lists, it sure makes sense to think that negative e-mail to this organization would surely be filtered into a folder that gets sent to the local Thuglican operatives as well as National lists maintained by herr Karl.

With the TIA databases that John "poinsy" Poindexter has been building in the basement of the DIA, basically every record of every one of your interactions is tracked and recorded.

(btw, this is the reason for the provisions of the un-patriot act for intrusion into privacy. They just want to have th data to use when needed, such as when someone needs to consider suicide as an option.)

1. I'm a Sufi
I help lead the Dances of Universal Peace. I am a member of a political peace group in my county that demonstrated against the war, and have written numerous LTTE and letters to my Congresspeople. I support Refugees International, and have created a website honoring that notorious liberal Sam Waterston, who had the audacity to read the Constitution during the RNC in New York. I have contributed to MoveOn and to democraticunderground.com. This ought to be a good summary of what they have on me.

2. Well let's see.

I have chastized the Christian Coalition in writing. Badgered my republican representative for many years, most recently essentially calling him a traitor for failing to appear at the December 8 Ohio/Conyers forum. Contacted other republican Senators and representatives around the country urging them to step up to the plate and represent the interests of the voters rather than their political party.

I'm pursuing a doctorate in divinity studies (non-Christian based) which has resulted in checking out a slew of undoubtedly objectionable material from the county library system. My signature is on the marriage certificate of a same gender couple as the officiant. I am a member of the ACLU. I donate to Planned Parenthood, Human Rights Campaign and a few other subversive organizations. I'm a registered democrat.

I use the internet.

6. Have not put up Christmas decorations in years
...I have participated in numerous protests and peace rallies around Wisconsin, had my name and picture printed in an Austrian newspaper reporting one of those rallies (US news didn't show up), am on Fox News footage criticizing * and his policies at a rally and gave my name, have marched into my Senator's office with various anti-war materials more times than I can count, have donated to MoveOn, and float under the capitalist radar by not using credit cards and refusing to give out my name, phone number, zip code, and other personal information to merchants.

I've signed petitions to Impeach Bush, support a woman's right to choose, prevent (and now end) the war, and have written letters to the editor, the DNC, and my Congresspersons.

I'm reasonably certain I'm on somebody's list because I ALWAYS get stopped at airport checkpoints.

7. The road map for the un-patriot act began in my home state!
They have been writing down license plate numbers at ANY and ALL local and state level meetings and protests for years here! I know I am on at least one of those lists. I told all my state and local reps they need to be voted out of office in a rather fiery speech after they asked a local man if he wanted to sell his property to them. Their comments made me concerned that condemnation was what they had in mind! This occurred during a hearing regarding reversing housing density regulations that have been in place for decades in my area. The police watched me leave. If you have had the balls to stand up to Corporate and government greed in this country for ANY reason, your name is already on someone's watch list!

10. membership at DU, photographed at marches, e-mails and web trails
And yes, I have absolutely no doubt both Fuhrer on the National Levels and Sturmtruppen on the local level are preparing lists of Enemies of the State (of course they won't call them that, they will come up with a suitable Orwellian Name-like "People of an Unpatriotic Nature" or something) against the day when Imperial Amerikan Law Enforcement reverts to 1930s Mississippi-style.

And all of us are the Negroes.

11. No, I know
I am a heathen. I will be brought in for hate crimes against religion. This despite the fact that I do not actually profess any hatred for religion. The fact that I speak out counter to some fundamentalist ideas suffices. Particularly since I am coming to the realization that tolerance and acceptance are weak against aggressive and assertive belief systems.

12. When I was released from the military...
under "other than honerable circumstances" I was told that I was a 'conflict of interest' to the Army. I was given an RE-3 discharge for drug/alcohol abuse that stemmed from my smoking a joint before a screening for pre-deployment readiness. When I finally signed my release papers, my XO told me that it was a disgrace to see a solider in the United States Army act in such treasonous ways. That if it were up to him, I would be serving time for my actions.

I was NOT going to Iraq. Plain and simple. If smoking a joint was the least bit I had to do to keep myself and my family safe, so be it. It has the propensity to affect my career life after college, however, oh well.

That said, I'm sure they have enough on me.

15. Well they'll start with my FBI File from the late 60s-early 70s :)
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 11:32 AM by mcscajun
And move on from there to the various 'Net boards (political and other) I've posted on, my ACLU membership and other donations I've made.

They'll have enough on me when the time comes, I know.

Which is why everytime I'm on the phone and saying anything even REMOTELY "subversive" -- I give a big "Helloooooooooooo, FBI, anyone else listening, and Fuck You, John Ashcroft" shout during the call (*yeah, I know I need to change that last one* -- but it feels good to type it.)

On edit: FOIA myself? Now there's an interesting thought. I'd think that would add more 'fuel to the fire' as it were.

18. All they gotta do is get you fired.
They don't need the camps. All they gotta do is get you fired, then you become marginal and unimportant. Lots of the posters list all the activities they are involved in, thinking that will get them in the camps. As long as you are employed, you don't need to worry about the camps. In the US, gainful mainstream employment is the universal badge of acceptability.

Once you are unemployed...watch what they can do to you then.

23. Ahhhh KNOW they're watchin' me!
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 02:31 PM by Mabel Dodge
I've made lot's of statements on various BBs over the last 12 years that the un-American right-wing nut jobs would have the audacity to call un-American (nothing that smacks of "off the pigs!", mind you, just things like, "The right-wing is outta control and perhaps people are really being stupid to let them have free rein". Add to that various involvements with some activists groups. And then, for the coup de gras, I'm an electronics hobbyist. I'm always ordering electronic components over the internet and phone. Now I've never built anything more dangerous than little electronic gizmos for amusement purposes, but it's a short hop from making timers to control flashing lights to making timers to control bombs, so I have no doubt, whatsoever that I'm a "person of interest".

Good thing I don't use chemical fertilizers on my garden. I always try to buy things in bulk, and if I ever ordered a large supply of plant food, I'm sure my ass would be in an FBI office, getting grilled.

But let's face it. We now live in an age where publically saying something as innocuous as, "Gee, isn't that Karl Rove quite the rascal", probably puts you on some list somewhere. About all you can do, is keep a bug-out bag packed, and if you're lucky enough to get advanced warning they're coming for you, be prepared to head out for an extended camping trip.

By the way, for any far rightists who may be lurking about, consider this: I'm not someone who's every political position hangs with the left. While I do have some left wing positions (notably choice, the treatment of worker and the environment) there are some positions that a lot of people would find downright right wing (death penalty, gun control and Gov't spending policy...oh wait!!! The right wingers are spending like drunken sailors, these days, so I guess fiscal responsibility is no longer a right-wing cause). I balance out to pretty much of a political moderate and *I* believe that ugly things are coming from this piss-poor excuse of a gov't you morons have put into place. Think about that. Think about how it's no longer just "left-wing whack jobs", who are worried, as you try to drift off to sleep, tonight.

Bokonon (Co-conspiritor and Mate of Mabel Dodge)
