Watch out for ebay scam. Don't give anyone your credit card info.
I just got a fraudulent email that looked for all the world like an official ebay document asking for my credit card info.

Ebay says to assume that it's fraud if anyone (impersonating them, or otherwise) asks for you info. I reported it ... FYI.

1. This is always good information
to share......Thanks.

I personally don't respond to the emails, my spam filter separates them. I practice responses only if I had initiated a contact to ebay or others first and am expecting a reply.

All others are in the trash.

3. I get those several times a week
When you have a good profile, these guys start sending you emails that LOOK like they're from ebay and ask you enter your ebay account information and credit card information. I report them by forwarding them immediately to ebay using this email address:

spoof@ebay.com

Similar sorts of "spoofing" emails that LOOK like they are from trusted sources come all the time, asking for credit card info. Ignore them if you don't have a good place to forward them to. These criminals send out floods of these emails, hoping that 1 or 2 out of 100 recipients will fall for their trick.

Glad you weren't a victim.

4. most of the banks have addresses for forwarding scam e-mails
I google on any given bank's name, get their website and find the "contact us" link. Forward scammy looking e-mails to the address given. Don't click on anything in the scammy e-mail (I know you all know this, but it bears repeating)

One bank site didn't have an email address listed specifically for this; it gave the bank phone number for the department given to dealing with scams. I didn't bother making the call, e-mail is easier.

5. I got one of those
the other day, purporting to be from Key Bank, claiming they'd lost some info in a computer crash and asking for verification of all of my personal information. Being well-informed about phishing, I knew immediately what it was. Besides the fact that I don't even use Key Bank, and I never have. And what cracked me up were the misspellings and grammatical mistakes, which is a dead giveaway right there.

Should I report this to Key Bank?

7. hahah!!!
They've been getting better lately, I've been getting them for a while and last couple years, the production quality left, umm, something to be desired, heh heh.

But yeah, you should check Key bank's website, fine the link and forward it to them. Shouldn't need to add any comments to the emailing. Don't touch it just put in Key bank address and forward. Key should reply to you quickly thanking you and explaining spoofing. Sending this stuff to them helps them identify the phishers.

6. Forward those emails to spoof@ebay.com
It seems I get them every time I make a purchase on eBay.

I'm sure banks and other companies, like PayPal, have an address you should send them to.

Opera browser has a feature that prevents you from accidentally going to a web site like that which is redirecting you from where you think it is going.

It is called "phishing."

9. The thing about this one...
It looked exactly right. And it required me to sign in and give my password to view the message. And since I was expecting to be contacted about something else, I did sign in and give my password.

Suspecting mischief, I forwarded it to ebay and changed my password.
