USA Today founder says "Get out of Iraq."
Al Neuharth, in Christmas Column, Calls for Bringing Troops Home from Iraq

Published: December 23, 2004 11:00 AM ET

NEW YORK . . . He also wrote in his weekly column for the paper that America's New Year's resolution should be to bring the troops home "sooner rather than later."

Neuharth, 80, a World War II vet, said he would happily volunteer for that kind of "highly moral duty again." But he would avoid serving in Iraq, likening it to the Vietnam war, which "many of the polticially connected" managed to escape.

He concluded that "support our troops" is a wonderful slogan but "the best way to support our troops thrust by unwise commanders- in-chief into ill-advised adventures like Vietnam and Iraq is to bring them home. Sooner rather than later. That should be our New Year's resolution."

Neuharth served in the infantry in World War II in France, Germany and the Philippines. He noted that he and his colleagues in that war were "properly armed and equipped."

Think anyone will heed his request. I don't, but I sure wish they would.

LYNN WOOLSEY 6 TERM CONGRESSWOMAN FROM PETALUMA SAYS NATION'S DEFENSE SECTY MUST GO. SHE SAYS HE SHOULD BE FIRED, OR SAVE FACE AND RESIGN. WOOLSEY SAYS SHE WAS TERRIFIED BY IMAGES OF THE MESS HALL SUICIDE BOMBING AT A MOSUL MILITARY BASE. SHE SAYS IT SHOWS HOW IRRESPONSIBLE WE ARE BEING OVER THERE. THERE WERE NEAR MSISES FOR MONTHS AND THEY WERE STILL EATING IN TENTS AND UNPROTETECTED. SHE HAS OPPOSED WAR, BUT SUPPORTED TROOPS FOR LONG TIME, BUT NOW SHE SAYS WE SHOULD EITHER GET OUT NOW OR IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE JANUARY ELECTIONS. SHE ALSO WORRIED SOME OF THE RROOPS IN THE MOSUL BOMBING MIGHT BE IN THE BAY AREA,. SHE SAYS SHE FEELS LIKE A FAILURE. HOW COULD THIS BE HAPPENING ON MY WATCH WHEN ALL THIS IS HAPPENING.

6. I wish it would happen that the troops could come home immediately.
What a Christmas present that would be for all the loved ones of soldiers in Iraq to know they are packing up and coming home!
