and ask them to stand with the House members who will oppose Bushs' reelection. I heard on Dem Now that Barbara Boxer has refused. I wrote both my senators, Murray and Cantwell, and begged them to stand with the House members. Tell them not to make the same mistake they did in 2000.

The Right has created a new middle with which to shield itself from the true left… as well as to fracture what remains of the Democratic base. Divided into it’s subcomponents, the Democratic party will be dysfunctional for decades… as will their progeny. With the voting machines in place and no method of dislodging them, those Democrats who wish to retain political power will serve as posts to concentrate a large portion of the Democratic constituency in a few ineffective, but oddly integrated Senators, Representatives, and perhaps even cabinet members.
Like lightning rods they will divert a large enough portion of the populace from gravitating to a new party who could contend with the 'Republicans'.

true, there's no hope for the party. The Green Party must emerge as the dominant progressive(left) party. After what I've seen this year I'm ready to sign up.
