I Love Christmas. And we are gonna have a good one.
Christmas has always been huge at my house. It's bigger than birthdays. Our business has suffered this year but we still went big. The kids are so excited they can't stand it. I am so excited I can't wait to see their faces in the morning.

Anyone else gonna have a great Christmas.

1. I'll be flying to the folks place in about 9 hours
Christmas is the one time of year the whole family, from around the coutry, gets together. We really do it up too - Christmas trees, presents, nativity scenes, Christmas lights, more food than anyone can eat in a week, all the kids and grandkids together.

And we're almost all Democrats too! Can't wait! Merry Christmas!

2. our biz has suffered too, this Christmas we are grateful for what we
have managed to survive this year

it's going to be a good (albeit quiet) Christmas with good friends and good food

no tree or presents, but all our favorite Xmas movies and lots of love and faith and thanks for the spirit of Christmas

Peace on Earth, Goodwill towards Men

3. Ours is a little depressed
The goofiness of the RW rhetoric has taken a toll on us. We are so tired of hearing about 'God this and god that'. This latest foray of keeping christ in christmas just about put us over the top though. Tried to come out of it with a viewing of "Miracle on 34th Street". But that reminded me that the nutcases were going after Macy's. Oh well.
Doesn't help that our kids are not here.
The topper was the attack in Mosul the other day. Useless deaths and injuries for the glorification of the asshole.
Maybe today we can crawl out.
Sorry if I brought anybody down. Happy holidays. Keep the Yule cool.

4. I will be alone.
Just me and my parrot. No family, save a crazed, alcoholic and disapeared HepC+ brother. I have no idea where he might be and I frankly don't give two shits. All the rest of the family(cousins) are scattered and self-absorbed.

But, I am going to the midnight mass tonight, at the little Episcopal Church on the other side of the town square. A wonderful place, full of the best folks on the planet.

Sometimes good enough is really good enough.

However you all celebrate it, I sure hope that you all have a fantastic holiday. Sincerely.

7. Hey you're not alone
Lots of us will be alone on Christmas. I enjoy solitude. But you aren't really alone when you have TV and your computer. I am celebrating Christmas morning with my grandchild and family but going to cook Christmas dinner for my dying aunt at her place in the country. We will eat early then get into our nightgowns and sit by the fire. I recommend going to help out in a soup kitchen if you want to celebrate with some really wonderful people. MERRY CHRISTMAS. I'll be thinking of you. But my aunt doesn't have a computer so I can't check into DU. But it's a good support group. (Canadian DUer.)

5. We are going to have a good Christmas
But it isn't what we have under the tree that is going to make it good.

11. I have low expectations, so I always have a fine time.
One of the pay-offs of being a pessimist is that when things are good, you can hardly believe it.

"What?? A present? For me? Socks??? Wow!!"

A glass of wine, a fire in the woodstove, something to knit. BLISS!

12. Family Coming to My House
My six children, five sons/daughters in law, ten grandchildren, two mothers of son/daughter in law, my husband and myself will be opening gifts and having Christmas dinner tomorrow. We will try to avoid talk of politics, hard in our family, for the sake of my one repuke daughter-in-law.
