Peace On Earth: Join Me In This Year-End Wish For ALL People
Peace On Earth. Peace To All.

Peace for the people of Iraq who want for food, clothes, and a place to sleep, in safety and serenity.

Peace for the people of Israel and Palestine, whose children may one day live Dr. King's dream. Yet.

Peace for the forgotten in America, who do not get tax cuts, work, health care, and fall prey to violence on the streets.

Peace for the sick and hungry in all corners of the globe.

Peace in our homes, peace from family members who bring discord, harm, and fear to their stead.

Peace in the big cities.

Peace in the small towns.

Peace in the great sprawling suburbs and on the lonely highways and back roads.

Peace to people of all faiths, and people of no faith.

Peace to people from every region of every nation, wherever they may call home.

Peace On Earth.

Peace To All.

"Imagine", the dreamer once said.

And I say, make it happen.

Peace.

7. peace through enlightenment
my sweetie created this as our xmas card this year.

he used to be very apathetic, but i have managed to get him tuned in to things, and he has become a little activist. :-)

i'm always telling him stuff i read on du, sending him threads.

this year, for our inclusive christmas card, he wanted to stress peace.

15. My Christmas wish and gift... just "Imagine"
Imagine
John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
In a brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say i'm a dreamer
But i'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

John Lennon

21. There will be no peace on earth and goodwill towards all as far as I see
This thread really makes me feel discouraged and bitter.

It's just going to be another year with much of the same shit from last year. Wishing people "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" is nice and a good show of humanity, but the majority of the world will continue to deal with disease, hunger, poverty, and for some war. Why do they live in deprivation? So that the relative few who live in comfortable luxury can continue to live luxurious lives when compared to the rest of the billions who go without and make bigger profits for their themselves. I see more war, misery, and death ahead of us.

As a consequence, I feel empty wishing something that will probably never come true for the majority of the world, not in my lifetime anyway. I'd feel better continuing to struggle and endure than to wish. Not through word and tongue but through deed and truth. Is that right?

There's going to be another Christmas gift under your tree tomorrow. It's not from anybody you know, and it's not something that you can deny or return for a refund. What's this gift? It's the world and the responsibility you owe to it. You're going to inherit it for next year along with all the pain and misery that goes with living in it and fighting for it. It is your obligation, your responsibility.

(End rant)

25. I agree
But I did it anyway. Hope deserves at least one day a year to break through my day-to-day realism. Come Sunday, I will be right with you with the cynicism and bitterness. But tonight, I give peace a chance.

24. Someday at Christmas
Someday at Christmas men won't be boys
Playing with bombs like kids play with toys
One warm December our hearts will see
A world where men are free

Someday at Christmas there'll be no wars
When we have learned what Christmas is for
When we have found what life's really worth
There'll be peace on earth

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime

Someday at Christmas we'll see a Man
No hungry children, no empty hand
One happy morning people will share
Our world where people care

Someday at Christmas there'll be no tears
All men are equal and no men have fears
One shinning moment my heart ran away
From our world today

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime

Someday at Christmas man will not fail
Take hope because your love will prevail
Someday a new world that we can start
With hope in every heart

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmastime

by Stevie Wonder

Peace to all the world and a Joyous New Year

Merry Christmas

Wondering this cold Christmas about my Jesus. What is he thinking?

He is here you know. He does not belong to any party Democratic or Republican. He does not belong to any country. In fact this whole world is God's country.

He is here now in you and in me in our souls. Nothing can take him away.

Have a Merry Christmas DU

The hope that in some small way you, I, or any other DU'er could bring change to a world so desperately needing peace is the only reason to get out of bed in the morning.

Happy Holidays to all DU'ers, their loved ones and friends. Let's hope that we can all work together to bring lasting peace to those who believe that they will never see it.

Julie
