"Exuberance" This is great.
Someone turned me on to this site and this radio show which I listened to on Thursday while on my way to pick up my aunt.

It's called the Dian Rhem Show. The guest was talking about "exuberance" What really caught my interest was her discussion of how many people--mostly men--really are exuberant about war and killing. It was amazing. Made me think about the "exuberant" soldiers I see and hear interviewed who seem to get a high off of killing Iraqis. Listen to the Thursday show.

1. Diane Rehm is probably the best talk show host in America, and one otf
the best interviewers. Terri Gross is a great interviewer but you can't call in to the show.

2. I agree with you
The Diane Rehm show is one of my favorite inteview shows, too. She has interesting guests, asks great questions and keeeps the conversation at a higher intellectual level than most of what is found on radio. She does a good job of keeping her personal opinions out of the way and is comfortable asking the really tough questions.

You can listen online at wamu.org and all the archives are available for online listening. If you've never heard her show, check it out - you're in for a treat. It's a show from which you can learn things.

3. most people join the military out of a genuine desire to serve . . .
their country . . . there are also those, however, who do so out of a genuine desire to kill . . . truly professional soldiers understand that their real mission is deterrence . . . and that whenever they're forced to go to war, they've failed in that mission . . . (unnecessary and illegal wars foisted upon them by their civilian commanders don't count) . . .
