Bush should dump the extravagant Inaugural and buy the troops armor
Or should he just tell the troops to 'eat cake' instead?

If he were really concerned about the troops...he could take the 40 million or so dollars that will be used to celebrate HIM and use it to buy armor and other necessities for the troops in harm's way.

US soldiers are expected to sacrifice, suffer, bleed and die in HIS name in an unnecessary war that HE started...while he prances around like a boy King without a care in the world. What is your sacrifice, Mr. Bush?

Bush inauguration to honor military

Ceremonies will celebrate vets, freedom in U.S.

Thursday, December 16, 2004 Posted: 1:42 PM EST (1842 GMT)

WASHINGTON (AP) -- With the theme "Celebrating Freedom, Honoring Service," President Bush's second inauguration will heavily emphasize a nation at war, but festivities will rival those held during peacetime.

Planned are nine official balls, a youth concert, a parade, a fireworks display and, of course, Bush's second swearing-in ceremony at noon on January 20. The cost will be between $30 million and $40 million, an amount that does not include expenses for security. --- http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/12/15/bush.inauguration.ap/

3. Disgusting, vulgar
show of pretention. This isn't about vet, troops, freedom; it's all about the chimp and if anyone believes otherwise they are sincerely deluded. This kind of money could make a difference in so many ways, so many lives, but, no, the chimp must have his coronation and the hell with everyone else.

4. if the official reported cost is 30-40 million
you can expect the actual cost to be two times that.

The extravagance during a war, during record deficits, during cuts to healthcare and education, is an insult to all of us.

8. You need to educate yourself, HeyDace
you don't have a clue.
Read what the real soldiers are saying and stop listening to your "armchair generals."

As for Kerry's vote against the 70 mil, he was right. After it came out that our boy king lied to us in order to invade Iraq, it's time to pull the plug.

9. Kerry isn't 'president'....the buck stops with Bush*
Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 09:04 AM by Q
Is it any wonder that the boy king can get away with this kind of shit when there are so many willing to excuse his behavior?

It's disgusting and vulgar. Even Bush's* media is reporting that soldier's don't have what they need to defend themselves in a 'time of war'. And here we have the Little Dictator spending millions on parties and dances so he can show off his new cowboy boots.

14. yes, divide the money between upgrading troops' armor/armament and FEEDING
THE HUNGRY AND THE HOMELESS...

However ... do you seriously think that HIS ROYAL BASTARD cares about anything but glorifying himself?

18. No...Bush* is about lip-service, public relations and stage management.
Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 10:24 AM by Q
But people should at least be aware that George* demands so many sacrifices from others but is unwilling to do so himself. The sheer arrogance should disturb and upset every American.

20. The extravagance is going on now, too.
See this thread with pictures from the White House of the opulent Christmas the Bushies are having:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2867100&mesg_id=2867100

I am at a loss for words, except that the money for some soldier's protective equipment is gooped on one of those Christmas trees, or the money will go up in smoke at the fireworks display at the coronation in January. Will the coronation be as tacky as this Christmas display?

21. It seems...
...that the American people have been desensitized to the lavishness of a government preaching to the commoners to be frugal with their minimum wages.

I'm just not surprised anymore that Americans accept this kind of royal government.
