they are serious 'beam me up, scotty, i finished all my kool-aid like a good lil' child' fanatics. they seriously crack me up. it's as if they are at home with three TV sets on, one on a televangelist (who tells them what to think), another on home shopping network (where to 'invest' their money. precious moments figurines and commemorative plates -- 'almost' like stocks and bonds, but not quite), and C-SPAN (to keep an eye on all those evil politicians who haven't submitted to god's will, and to 'testify' of the coming of the rapture while sitting on their ass).
