Complaining to the FCC versus Media corporations - more effective ?
I spoke with a neighbor of mine who is a kindred Dem, we were talking politics in the yard one day and somehow got on to the subject of our corporate media and Clear Channel, and she told me of a situation and an action she took which in her case proved to be effective.

My neighbor listens to right wing radio because she is a better person than I*, and because she likes to get a feel for all the misinformation they spew. So of course one day she caught one particular talk show host, (who I have no idea the name of), in a lie.

Apparently, the host went on to promote what was a pretty inflammatory lie about three or four times, and it made my neighbor so mad so she called both her Senators and Congressmen here in California (mine as well)to mention reinstating the Fairness Doctrine and to relay this story about the talk show host lying so blatantly. One of the aides she spoke with, mentioned that she should contact the FCC, which she then did.

What was interesting is she said, after making the call to the FCC and complaining, (she may have followed up with a fax or a letter, not sure) never heard that host utter that lie or anything around that subject again.

Again this is third person, however it is from a person whose active involvement I admire.

I also mentioned this story to someone who works in political consulting firm and he said that to contact the FCC is much more effective.

It certainly makes sense being that they essentially control the rules by which the networks have to live by.
