How does one return home when one is cast out, literally, naked after a

tsunami? There was a report on one of the news channels about a European couple who were caught in the open by the tsunami in Sri Lanka. They were cast about by the water, and in the process were, literally, stripped naked. Their hotel was ripped to splinters. They have no money, no credit cards, no passports .... nothing ... not even the clothes they were wearing.

They were given clothing by someone in the aftermath of the tsunami, and now they want to return home. With no airline tickets and no passports, with no money and no credit cards, how do they return home? How do they even prove who they are?

2. I heard on the news today that those without passports were being

told to just get the hell out of there basically. They didn't say how the tickets would be paid for, but I imagine if they were waiving the passport requirement maybe they have some plan to pay for flights home, maybe with the aid fromm Canada. definitely not the stingy US.

when I heard about the children screaming as they were swept out to sea...the tears just came to my eyes...

I'm glad this couple survived...but running around but naked is actually kind of a funny visual...the embassy should be able to help them.

6. The people that survive this tragedy will be afforded every courtesy

and consideration. The people that live in the stricken areas have a long row to hoe before they are out of the woods. The worst is yet to come. I hope fears of pestilence are not realized, but I fear that is not realistic. Those poor, poor, beautiful people.

I had my purse stolen which had my passport in it while I was abroad. I had to answer a few questions about my family's history (e.g., father's mother's maiden name) at the embassy and had my passport the next day.
