Edited on Tue Dec-28-04 05:54 AM by JI7
for those who believe there is Hell for some after death, do you believe Bush will go to Hell ?

if you don't mind, please give your religion also.

i don't believe there is a hell, but i was wondering about those who do believe in it and whether they think Bush will go there.

But I want Bush to go there!

I'm a struggling Catholic. Thanks to the Iraq war, I stopped reading by bible. I used to watch Christian programs on TV before 9/11, but my hatred toward Bush and 9/11 made me reconsider.

9. It made you think what a true Christian is...
All of that crusty cack on television has mentally ill people worshiping a false prophet. and as for *... I'm surprised 59 million people believe him despite his bald-faced two-facedness.

14. struggle but don't give up
I was sad but not surprised to read your comment. I too have struggled with Christian issues.

My family did not attend church for several weeks because we live in a small community with lots of single issue, uninformed voters and my entire family was heavily involved in the Kerry campaign.

Utimately I believe as I always have that "religion" is man-made and faith is something between you and God. Maybe you would like to take a look at this website: www.sojo.org I think it is org, if it doesn't work try .com.

It is a Christian site whose aim is looking at the total picture from a Christian point of view. All the issues that touch our values, which is every issue. That is their point, that we can not isolate one issue and call it a "Christian value issue" while turning our back on the poor, the defenseless etc, etc you get the drift.

Best wishes to you and hope for the future!

2. Bush has been ordering out for Hell for the past 6 years
Why should he have to go all the way there, when Hell delivers?

5. We create our own heaven and hell
by our actions. I believe that when we die, we are shown our life and all our actions and their repercussions-no spin, no excuses. We must face what we have done, and we become our own judges.

7. I believe that, too
I believe he will have to feel the grief of all of those he separated by death. That's an ocean of grief.

19. I believe that, too
I also believe in reincarnation whereby he will make choices in his incarnation to learn from his mistakes, "maybe".
As you can imagine, that opens up a WORLD of possibilities.
Some of us learn, some of us don't.
His path is his to walk.

6. Yes and I don't know.
Yes I believe in Hell (I'm Presbyterian) but I'm not comfortable saying who deserves to go there and who doesn't.

But, if I had to make a short list of who deserves it, he'd be on it!

10. Well said
I believe that there may be something that occurs after death, but have no opinion as to what, if anything, it is - streets of gold and a lake of fire always seemed a little silly. Regardless~

My religious background is also Presbyterian, FWIW.
Being brought up in an environment which emphasized the teachings of JC (as opposed to the Vengeful God of the OT, or Paul's twisted views), combined with a healthy respect for Karma, I have a hard time with the thought of judging others as being worthy of Heaven or Hell, too.

12. yes I believe in hell
I am a Christian strong in my faith and I do believe in hell. I also believe in the forces of good and evil in the world and I feel that Bush has aligned himself with the wrong side. The bible says that one of the worst things you do in God's eyes is to lead believers astray and I believe that is what GWB and his team have intentionally done.

As for him going to hell that isn't for me to judge. I wouldn't want to have to answer for all that he has done when the time comes, but remember that Jeffrey Dalhmer repented and converted before he died and if we believe what the bible tells us then Jeffrey Dalhmer is in heaven.

That is one of the hardest truths to deal with regarding the bible. One of the most damning comments that GWB has ever made regarding his Christianity vcame about during an interview when Bush was asked by an interviewer: Do you believe that Osama Bin Laden is too far gone to be redeemed. George Bush replied that Bin Laden was beyond redemption that he could not be saved. I was amazed then and still am that my fundamentalist friends didn't go nuts over that statement! According to the bible no one, for any reason is too far gone to be redeemed if they have that true desire in the hearts with a right and pure motive, not out of fear, but out of a desire to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The other bible verse that comes to mind all the time in regards to Bush is that which says "you can't serve two masters" - refering to God and money. Clearly GWB puts the almighty dollar above everything else in his life, so him professing to be a Christian makes as big a mockery of Christianity as does his policies claiming that we are a democracy. At least he is consistently hypocritical!

15. I believe there is a hell, complete with a river of fire, eternal
damnation and satan, as to whether Bush will go there, I'd not even hazard a guess, IMHO that's between him and God.

18. I somewhat believe in hell
as a Catholic I believe somewhat differently than my church that hell is not a place of eternal torment so much as the absence of God.

It is not for me to decide who goes to hell and who doesn't or who deserves hell and who doesn't. I'm not into condemning my fellow humans the way those on the right are

20. Pfft! No more than I believe in talking snakes or pregnant virgins.
It's a story made up to scare misbehaving children.

And I think that's literally true, at least partly. IIRC, part of the genesis...heh...of the Hell myth was the garbage pit outside Jerusalem, where trash was burned all day and night.

It's not hard to imagine some harassed Mom, trying to keep her kids in line, yelling: "If you brats don't behave, someday you're going to go to a place JUST LIKE THIS forever!"

And not far away, lounging back and enjoying the unearned "first fruits" of their chosen profession, a couple of priests probably sat up and said: "Damn! We can use that! If they'll believe that yarn about the Garden Of Eden, they'll believe ANYTHING!"
