children to the tsunami, at least they may be able to seek consolation in the fact that this was a force of nature against which human beings are powerless to do battle. That is certainly not enough consolation. The wounds will linger for a long time.
But what do we tell the mothers of Iraq who have lost their children to a foreign power which manufactured this war on the flimsiest pretexts, came in with advanced weaponry, laid waste to their land, imprisoned their men and tortured them while killing civilians indiscrimninately from the air and from land? This is a man made disaster, totally avoidable.
If Mr.Bush and his henchmen have one ounce of shame, they will withdraw our forces from Iraq and lead a massive effort to alleviate the suffering in Asia and the Middle East with the savings from the war. That would be what Mr.Bush's favorite "philosopher" would advocate in my opinion.

I can't imagine how she and her late husband coped with the agony of their deaths, although I have heard her say that 'WW2 was a just war'.

3. These are heart rending. As I said, the only atonement we as a nation |

can make would be to divert all the costs of the war to alleviate the suffering.Anything less will bring shame to all of us.
