OMFG Rossi Give it UP!
Is there a single "good loser" republican in existence?

Sorry if it's a re-hash. I've been away...I just can't get over this guy.

1. Since they are also bitter and vindictive winners, why should the losers
be gracious?

3. Yeah, he really changed his tune
...once he wasn't the one leading in vote counts. Concession is apparently only a good thing for the sake of the "people" if it's your opponent who has to do it.

He's a classic Rethug. No wonder they don't want to lose him. Hypocrisy this well developed takes YEARS of careful nurturing.

4. After the first ballot, when Rossi was ahead, all he and his flunkies
could talk about was for Gregoire to concede for the good of the state, blah, blah, blah... costing the Washington taxpayers money, blah, blah, blah... the election is over, time to stand down, blah, blah, blah...

Take your own advice rossi. You lost in a state-wide hand recount, overseen by members of both parties, and according TO ALL MONITORS, as unbiased and impartial as they come. There are no more votes to count. Unless you plan on a psychic recount, I'd say this is over. Go home.

5. You're not Carlo Rossi's kid are you?
But you said Gregoire should give it up for the good of the state when she was 42 votes behind. You're down 129. Practice what you preach please.

7. Uh, you do see the irony here, don't you?
Of course he's gonna contest Gregoire's win, just as she contested his. I hope Gregoire holds on to the Governership, but considering our position regarding the presidential race, I understand his position. sorry if this goes against the partisan tide, but hey, sauce, goose, gander. The rethugs think we cheated in Washington. I actually understand the call for a new election.

14. The Cons did not claim the election process was flawed until the final
numbers put them behind. They always lie.

Sane people who have enough information have always known that the voting process was flawed (at best) and said so before any outcome was known. These cons, these thugs, these congenital liars only say the words they think will bring them greater power and control over their victims.

As for your claim that Rossi has any right at all to say he had a "win." Well, that takes a whole pitcher of Kool-Aid to believe. There was only one win, and it came when all the steps required by law to count the ballots were completed, not when the first or second approximation to this number were reported.

The call for a new election is just more whining and a brazen attempt to deceive the gullible.

15. No, Gregoire insisted that the law be followed
She invoked the law (nifty trick for a former attorney general), and insisted that the law be followed, as written by the legislature, enacted by the governor, and as historically interpreted by the courts. After a fair and lawful review of the legally cast ballots, it turns out that she picked up nearly 200 votes, enough to change the outcome.

Washington law doesn't provide for a "do over" vote, as Rossi is now looking for. He doesn't go to court, because he knows he doesn't have a legal leg to stand on. There is no authority in the Washington State Constitution, the Revised Code of Washington, or anywhere else that would allow for a re-vote. Rossi's legal avenues are foreclosed, and now he's appealing to public sentiment to achieve a victory he couldn't get at the polls or in the courts, and his partisans have succeeded in persuading some weak-minded people to say, "Aw shucks, let's do what Dino wants."

Forget it. This race is over, and the winner is Christine Gregoire.

As much as I'd love for Gregorie to have clear sailing from here, we have to be realisitc about what happened.

Gore got several recounts in Florida in 2000 and he never managed to suprass chimp in any vote totals other than the exit poll results. They tried to have a more through vote count but the repug supreme court rigged in. End result, chimp gets 4 out 4 recounts. That's how the repugs were able to force Gore to concede.

We have a horse of a different color in Washington. Rossi won 2 out of 3 recounts. That gives the Repugs an excuse to hold up Gregorie's victory. If she enters off now, they will try to de-ligitizine her and make her a lame duck governor. Not only that, but Rossi is now a celeb and can use his "stolen election" to rally the right-wing for a Senate race against Cantwell.

I honestly think having a special runoff election might be best at this point. I was totally against the idea until a few days ago but we need to give Gregorie a CLEAR VICTORY and MANDATE to govern so the repukes will get out of the way. Washington is a extremely strong Dem state. Gregorie will win again, by a bigger margin. The reason why the vote total was so close in the first place is the Dems got complacent and just assumed they woudl win in a walk. Now, they will get people to the polls and roll up a huge margin in King County.

We should let Rossi have his new election, and crush him. Then it's over and we will rule washington state withotu interferance.

8. Re-hash away! I'll never get tired of this subject.
It's the juiciest bit of Republican hypocrisy since . . . since last week anyway. The difference this time is we won.

Gregoire pushed her way to the front of the line to get every legal vote. I don't care if they have a problem with it and neither does she.

9. I'm a big consession proponent.
I thought Gregoire should have conceded after the first recount. Consequently, I was against the second recount. However, since they did a second recount anyway, I now think Rossie should concede.

This is the first time my thought process has led me to 2 different conclusions in terms of outcome. Nevertheless, I will continue using my current thought process since it has seen me through dozens of elections.

11. Gregoire stayed within what the law permits

Also she paid for the recount. And now she has won WITHIN the law!!

It was interesting to listen to Mike Webb through this whole process as he gave Chris Vance many opportunities to be hear, but he refused!!

22. Not as far as Kerry is concerned
He only put in his two cents in Ohio AFTER the Ind and Green parties bitched loud and often enough about 11/2. I can't help but get the feeling that this whole election thing was a comedy/mystery/drama Broadway play that you walk out of feeling like you've paid a high admission fee to see, but you've been had!
