"Doing on the Cheap" - did they believe their own BS?
I am wondering was doing it on the cheap a lie that was used to get us into this war profiteering scam?

Or did they really believe they could "do it on the cheap?" If so then it suggests that this was a test run of a new business plan that they could reimplement over and over again around the world.

1. You pegged it
They honestly thought they could do it cheap and quick, so they could blitzkrieg their way through the Middle East.

3. Never

they really did mean to institute a "Pax Americana". Security through strength. We could actually impose democracy on them by military means.

Idiots. And True Believers.

The profits on the side? Just a happy circumstance.

5. Even more frightening
I think they still do, albeit with a touch of bewilderment that it's gone so wrong so far..... But next time! Sheesh!

6. Its cheap if you don't count the lives lost and
treat your soldiers like machines rather than human beings with physical limits.

7. What ARE they trying to do?
Anything is possible, but their 'strategy' makes sense only if they intended to create a bloodbath of the innocent, ongoing hell on earth for Iraq and the rest of the ME, and thousands of new and determined anti-American terrorist cells.

In that, they have succeeded. Protecting our soldiers (and Iraqi civilians) probably received less than 2 seconds of Rumsfeld's attention.

8. I can't imagine they were that incompetent.

I'm with you on this: they wanted to get their foot in the door, and they didn't care what lies they had to tell in order to do it. Once that ball's rolling, the only options will be maintaining the (obviously inadequate) status quo or military escalation. It's no longer a debate between the hawks and the sane people. Now, it's just a debate between the various factions among the hawks. The rest of us no longer even have a place at the table, and, imho, that is very much by design.

11. The purveyors of these policies truely believe
they are so righteous that the entire world would be overjoyed to be just like them and conversion a piece of cake.
They are the ultimate hypocritical egotists on this planet.

I've met several Christen missionaries with the same attitude towards other religions as these warhawks, they truely believe the only people in the world who are happy are Christians and should overjoyed to be converted.

12. Ain't sure if THEY believed it, BUT
they damn sure knew that most Murkins would buy it hook, line and sinker if it was marketed properly. Enter ABCCBSCNNNBCFochs with "March To War" graphics and stirring Martial Music.

The rest is Hysteria.
