thought about the Condit situation awhile back. That was the spring and summer of '01, when all the terror memos were going around and not being attended to by the Chimp in Charge. And where was the media? On a 24/7 Condit feeding frenzy. You wake up on 9/11 and turn on the TV expecting to see the usual steeplechase of reporters pursuing Rep. Gary all over the place. But of course something totally unexpected happens that day. Maybe I have my Reynolds wrapped too tight but what if Chandra Levy's murder was designed as some kind of distraction? Such a thought wouldn't have occurred to me at the time, but now...
