I think the 2.6 billion in aid that we give to Israel annually is rather generous, don't you?

When one figures the discounts combined with the guaranteed loans from the IMF/WorldBank

5. Not according to the Jewish Virtual Library link I provided
Did you follow the link?

Do you see those columns labelled "Grant" (as distinguished from "Loan"?) There are over 2.6 billion dollars in those columns, combined.

12. The US government is stingy
in terms of the % of GNP that is given. This is something called a FACT.

However, like most facts, it doesn't tell the complete story. While the US government is stingy, the US people are not. Factor in private donations to worldwide charites, and we start to look a whole lot better.

2. $2.6 B? Is That All?
I suspect the back-door total is much higher than the paltry sum to which they admit officially.

9. Mordechai Vanunu could tell the U.S. a whole lot about what
we've given Israel in nuclear power if they didn't have him muzzled. Not a word from the media, except Amy Goodman.

10. No one actually did say the US was stingy.
He was misquoted. He never said the US.

11. Correct! I watched the whole video stream. That "quote" by the MSM was
Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 09:05 AM by DemItAllAnyway
entirely manufactured. What a disgrace. I forget where I got the following, but it has a link to the video (what Egeland said is toward the end:

"U.N. Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Jan Egeland... referred to 'wealthy states' and 'donor states,' but at no time did he single out the United States. In fact, when a reporter asked Egeland to name the countries he believed to be "stingy," he pointedly declined to do so (you can stream the 48-minute press conference with RealPlayer and see for yourself-- www.un.org/webcast ).

As for Egeland's talk of taxes, that too was generic. He referred broadly to 'politicians,' specifying only a few sentences later that he had in mind leaders "in the United States, in Western Europe and even in Norway." That was the only time he mentioned the U.S."
