What can you tell me about "Earthtones" cell phone co? |
|
I just received an e-mail asking for my opinion, and all I could offer is that they are "blue," but nothing about their service. Although I can't imagine anyone being any worse than the current major players (Verizon, Sprint, etc), it's still some information that would be good to know. Anyone have any experience with "Earthtones" for cell service?

1. I had Earthtones years ago |
|
They were very nice and provided consistent service.
They were also the first (as far as I could tell) to start printing their phone bills on both sides of the paper. I had suggested that to them, but I don't know if they did it based on my idea.
I eventually left them for a company with lower rates.
My one real complaint about them was that when I didn't pay my bill on time and got shut-off, I had a hard time finding a way to contact them to get my phone turned back on.
But that was YEARS ago (1994), and that's probably changed. Especially now that everyone has a web page and I would be able to just look them up online now.

3. Earthtones uses the Verizon network |
|
Since Verizon is a bunch of red-republican bastards, I don't see how using Earthtones would help "starve the beast."
It would, however, help the environment.

4. There are only so many lines |
|
We have to accept that much...it isn't as if every phone company has their own lines strung down our streets. Someone owns the networks, and I don't suppose it is realistic for us to expect that a mom & pop phone company would be able to assemble it's own nationwide netword. They have to "piggyback" with SOMEBODY. I don't think there is a completely blue phone company, unfortunately, but I think supporting a smaller, non-beast company sends a message, if nothing else, and it sends a far smaller chunk of your change to the GOP supporters. If that's the best we can do at this point, that's the best we can do.
Thanks for your input!

5. Check out Working Assets |
|
Great phone company, does cellular as well as LD, donates millions to good causes every year (progressive.)
I'm sure they have to work with one of the major companies, since they don't own the infrastructure, but if you're gonna get service you might as well get it from them.
