What's the WHOLE story regarding the US and foreign aid?
I'm hearing this debate about foreign aid and the US, where do we rank with regard to foreign aid. The whole thing has been clouded and diluted and the rubes already have their oft repeated cover, but what is the truth of the matter?

Any help?

2. Yes, it's much the same with Olympic medals. We always
win the most; but if you draw a circle on a map of Europe to enclose a population equal to ours, we come off a poor second best.

3. Are you talking about the government, or
private giving? I saw these Bush apologist all over yesterday making hay out of what that UN guy said and the guy didn't even name the US in particular. Do they have a guilty conscience or is it just the usual spin control.

4. I just got a letter from moveon...
...asking for letters to Bush asking him to send more aid. In my note, I suggested that he cut back on the inaugural festivities and instead send a majority of the money to the relief efforts.

7. Yeah, and a lot of our "foreign aid" is military aid used to prop
stooge governments around the world who support the empire.

8. I can sum it up in one sentence
pre-Election Florida = 2 Billion ( with a B) in "Disaster Relief"...

.....100k+ dead brown skinned non-Christians = 25 Mil ( or 1.75%).

THATS what the ruckus is about.

9. Listening to CNN yesterday
they were saying that the areas devistated would need to have major infra structures repaired/replaced. Thing like big buildings; roads;bridges etc.

This is the perfect opportunity for Halliburton to contract with the US Gov't to replace those things and get a big profit in the meantime....
