Poll question: Reagan or Bush II, which one would rather have as President?
Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 02:08 PM by Lone_Wolf_Moderate
I saw the Nixon-Bush poll. How's this for a tough poll? These are your only choices.

2. Do we have to choose? What a dilemma.
I think I might have to go with Ronny Raygun. (Ouch, that hurt.) He made no effort to appear religous. Didn't go to church. In other words, not a hypocrite RE: religion/god. No big anti-abortion rulings during his terms.

3. Look, even Hoover was better than Bush II! And I wasn't even
around when he was prez, but my parents blamed him for the Great Depression.

I don't think you'll find another one worse than this stupid asshole.

4. Neither
America is far too conditioned into thinking a choice between the "lesser of two evils" is the best they can do.

"Politics as usual" only became politics as usual because the people allow it and don't ban together to stop it.

We can live with the illusion of freedom and "democracy" or we can fight to guarantee we have Real choices.

America can do better...and she better do better if there is to be anything left of America.

6. With Reagan we had a Democratic Congress and....
Reagan's ego lead him to be more pragmatic and moderate during the second term so that he could have left a "respectable" legacy, at least on the surface it would seem that way. With Bush we get 100% SHIT!

Reagan = 75% Shit
Bush II = 100% Shit

7. Reagan had people around that made him deal with reality. Bush is

surrounded with people who think they make reality or can ignore reality.

The Democrats controlling congress was a big difference but I still don't think all the people around him were as wacked as this group.

16. seems he gets it from faux....
we just had the umpteenth argument over christmas about Iraqi ties to 9/11.... he still believes it - and he's a very smart guy

I do have to say tho - after the election - he called me to say that he was a little afraid of the overwhelming Repub victory and that he thought it was non-democratic for the entire gov't to be so one-sided. He also is pro-choice and is now saying he's worried about that as well.

he just can't get the stars outa his eyes over ronnie and george tho!

Only because he oversaw the killing of less people.
I could be wrong about that though...

11. This is a no brainer.
Mainly because Bush is a no brainer. Reagan was a little wacky, but I don't think he was completely nuts.

Reagan is the father of neoconservativism and I hope he's burning because of it. (okay, that's a little harsh but that's how I feel.)

14. Just about the same economically
But Bush is much worse than Reagan when it comes to social issues... Reagan believed that the government should shrink... Bush signed the Patriot Acts I and II. So there.

17. I'll hold my nose and vote Reagan...
If there is anything that makes Reagan less nauseating than Bush II, it would be the fact that Reagan actually believed the crap he spewed out. To Reagan, it really was "Morning in America".

With this idiot, I feel like I'm living in Rome during the fall of the Empire. We have a raving emperor and a public more concerned about the modern equivalent of bread and circuses than the fall of their own country. Sad

21. Reagan
I didn't like him or his policies but I didn't think he would totally trash the constitution. I wasn't scared to death then and I wasn't considering emigrating. I knew it was a bad time but that it would pass and we would still have the USA. I don't feel that way now.
