I want to give to an effective agency that has low administrative costs. If all Bushco can come up with is 40m, we can outdo the miser and his cronies who are probably looking for a way to profit from this terrible event.

1. No, 40m for the inauguration, 35m for the disaster.

3. Shameful. Sickening. Heart Rending.
We've lost our way as a Nation and as a people. How can we shock them into awareness? As their Bible says, "Their conscience has been seared with a hot iron."

2. don't have the website...
but today I got a site that provided a list of charities with the overhead percentages...

of that list the ones with the lowest overheads that were accepting donations were I believe

AmeriCares (overhead of only about 1%)
Catholic Charities
Salvation Army
Mercy Corps

Salvation Army had the lowest overhead at .8%

After doing very little research I think I've chosed AmeriCares - they already have an airlift in progress and they can reach alot of people in a short time

Salvation ARmy has people on the ground right now and are already working - another good choice

5. How can we track the "peoples" donations vs the paltry gov. amount?
The world must know that while our present government doesn't care, the American people are giving and caring?

Check out their website is http://www.breedlove.org/ A very fine reputable company that has been feeding the world's hungry for over 10 years. The Lubbock newspaper's lead article yesterday was about this company needing funding to send an immediate shipment.Hope this helps.
