This holiday season has been a time for some introspection. I am off from work for the week and have been doing little but laying around, navel contemplating and sleeping late. This morning I didn't get up until past 11 AM!

That's when it happened. I took a deep breath and thought differently for a moment. Seriously ..... how bad can it really be?

We survived the Civil War.

We survived the Great Depression.

We survived two World Wars.

McCarthy was seen for what he was.

St Ronnie has faded.

Bill's blowjob is less an issue and his record is more the issue.

George Bush, too, will pass. Not without pain. Not without anguish. But he, too, shall pass.

Someday ... someday ..... we shall have our once great country back.

2. And hopefully there will still be some clean water left,

air that is breathable, fish that we can eat, endangered species that survive, and at least a piece of the EPA that functions as it was intended.

3. We'll get our country back alright.

But, it won't be great. We won't notice it though. We'll to too damn busy working for shit wages with no hope of retiring. Yep, we'll have to work until they lay us in our graves just to pay off the National Debt. The good news is: our life expectancy will be nowhere near what it is now. Bush will pass but, his foul, atavistic, frat-boy legacy will haunt us for years to come.
