I haven't seen any NEW tsunami coverage today. |
|
It's all repeats of footage. Have the cable stations just quit reporting about it. I want them to report on the aid process, they are shifting to the new year and the inauguration.
I don't know what to expect, and I never watch cable news except during crises, but shouldn't they be on the ground there reporting more?

4. I'm talking about on television. |

I READ online news coverage.
I want to see the remote provinces of Banda Aceh reached, I read a comment on BBC.com that said the media stations were distorting the damage in Phuket, that the coast was destroyed but that the whole of the region was not, that there was senstationalism at the expense of other regions that were not getting coverage.
This reminds me so much of hurricane Andrew, where Miami got all the coverage and citizens in poor parts of Dade county were desperate for water and food for days.
The people that need aid the most probably haven't been reached yet, and the media needs to make an effort to cover this and keep the pressure up on these govt's and aid orgs to get the lead out before these people die.

2. nah, that's old news, besides, all those dead and grieving |
|
people are such a downer. Let's move on to Paris Hilton missing her opening or Robert Blake's six month murder trial. That's uplifting!
(That's why my TV has been OFF during the propaganda hour since 11/2)

6. Local coverage"Relief begins arriving for tsunami victims" |
|
It didn't JUST begin arriving you useless tools it HAS been arriving. Just because W finally sobered enough to go before the cameras and half ass it with some new coalition doesn't mean that nothing was done before.

7. Isn't it 3 days without water that will kill you? |
|

I do believe that some folks have had no aid since this happened.
Is there a way to desalinate sea water to drink it? What could one do in this situation? I know that there are palm trees with coconuts in some areas, and the coconut water can be drank, but I am so worried about these outlying regions.
It's hard to tell from the coverage, but response to this seems achingly slow.
It shouldn't have taken 3 days to get helicopters over these small islands to look for survivors, I mean basic logic should have told people any survivors on these islands would be the worst hit..I guess the tale will be told later on.
edit: I agree with you on the W. sobering up thing, they couldn't but him in front of the camera with the shakes and dementia.
