WHAT

Traditional New Orleans jazz funeral entitled "A Wake for Peace": Jazz Funeral for Democracy timed to coincide with the inauguration of George W. Bush. Street theater encouraged. March, rally and inaugural ball featuring local New Orleans musicians.

WHERE

New Orleans, Louisiana. It is projected that the staging area will be at Congo Square (Armstrong Park) located just outside of the French Quarter on Rampart Street. Plans are to proceed through the commercial district down Canal Street during office workers' lunch hour before entering the Quarter where a rally will be held on the Moonwalk beside the Mississippi River. The march will then continue to a block party at Washington Square.

1. Wish I could be there
I'll be wearing black, top to toe, that day in New Mexico.

The election was stolen here by ES&S.

5. I'm going to try to make it.
I refuse to just sit down while democracy dies! If I can't make it to New Orleans, I'll just do something here in Dallas like protest at Dealy Plaza.

7. Friend and I are going
It looks to be a unique experience! Jan 20 is also "Not One Red Cent" day, so we are trying to figure out how to be in New Orleans for the event and not spend one red cent while there, lol.

If these Funerals for Democracy were held all over the US, the news media would have to take notice...There will also be one in Portsmouth, NH.

Why don't yall see if you can organize one in your community?
