A Prophetic Warning
I know I have never shared this story with all of you, but for some reason, I have this overwhelming conviction that I need to share it now. I don't know why, but I do.

Anyway, back in the late 90's, my sister in Colorado became acquainted with a pastor, who was considered a prophet by those who knew him. My sister thought very highly of him.

In 98 or 99 my sister shared with me a prophecy that he had told her. He said that in mid September (he did not know the year) an event would happen on the East Coast that would change America as we now knew it. It would then happen on the west coast and when it happened in middle America, that is when things would be really bad and it would be time to seek a place of safety. He told her that my area would be a safe haven.

After 9/11, I heard, over and over and over again...the very words that this man used. All of the news commentators kept saying that "America as we know it has changed forever"

Those words rocked my soul. Remember, I knew about this prophency at least 2 years before 9/11. The first part of his prophecy was 100% accurate.

I think we all know that more terrorism will happen in America. Will the rest of his prophecy be as accurate as the first part???

1. I'm sorry, but it sounds to me like those Jeanne Dixon --
-- horoscope columns that used to run in the newspaper.

If you and your sister wish to believe that this was literal prophecy, there ain't no stoppin' ya.

I think it's hooey.

2. This prophecy is very vague
I am a firm believer in revelations, but it sounds so general. Nothing is fixed. Pray to God that our leaders will learn from past mistakes and be more careful about terrorist attacks. Personally, this does scare me a lot to cos America has provoked a lot of wrath cos of Iraq. I hope and pray we get the hell out of Iraq and start being a peaceful nation.
Where is the peace president that Dubya promised?

3. He heard it through the grape vine...
this plan was threatened by Osama many years ago and co opted by the Neocons before 1994. It is not prophesy but just another man spinning the monstrous "big lie" for his own advantage. In order to pull it off a lot of people had to know parts of it or be complicit in it including the religious right wing nuts.

Evil triumphs when good people do nothing.

4. how do you spell
ka se ra se ra?
your thoughts are your reality. a medicine man once told me it is a sin to worry.
i am not mocking you. the best medicine is to try to heal the world we are in at the present. to breathe in the sadness of the world and to breathe out love for all, even your enemies.

5. Was this "pastor" experimenting with any hallucinogenics by any chance?
Or any other types of mind altering drugs? That you are aware of anyway.

Don

7. We have a thread going now about Pat Robertson making predictions
Do we want to have a dueling prophets war?

Every year millions of selfproclaimed prophets make claims. And every year some of these predictions come true but most do not. It's not a prophecy. Its called odds.

Its particularly useful for prophecies to not be specific. Leave the date open. Leave the year open. Leave some opening and you can always claim it hasn't happened yet. Then when something does happen you can claim thats what you meant. It's sort of like shooting a gun and then painting a bullseye around the bullethole.

This is not to say that this pastor is pulling a con. He may very well believe in his ability. But people have fooled themselves before.

Consider this. If God is telling this pastor of things to come why does he not choose a more efficacious route to get his message out. If he is truly concerned why not controviene the airwaves and simply tell everyone to cut it out. The notion that God is choosing to provide such critical information to a such a limited audience creates a serious doubt about its varacity.

8. How is his prophecy 100% accurate...
... when he didn't know the damned year? Nostradamus-speak, sounds to me.

This is the sort of idiocy that's overtaken rational thought in this country of late, and has contributed to the general decline of the country.

If that seems harsh, ask yourself why you say it's "100% accurate" when neither the year, nor even the decade, could be identified, nor is there any description of the event which would "change America as we now knew it." By any scientific standard, mid-September would qualify as a random guess without a lot more information, let alone the geographical imprecision of "East Coast."

And, while I hate to puncture too many balloons, how exactly has 9/11 changed "America as we know it?" We mostly go on about our lives as before. We continue to be dedicated consumers (rather than saving against possible tragedy), we wave the flag when our leaders tell us to, and listen in rapt attention when they tell us lies about the "evildoers" intent on destroying us and feel fearful because of that. That sounds a lot more like political manipulation than prophecy to me--a political manipulation which has been occurring off and on for several decades.

In a country of now 290,000 people, extraordinary events happen every day--even in mid-September.

Cheers.

10. That's vague
I do believe in visions and the effectiveness of divination, but my tarot readings come up far more accurate than that everytime.

11. Not Impressed. Its easy to claim things AFTER the fact...
Had you posted this BEFORE 9/11 I would consider your story much more seriously. Posting AFTER 9/11 means this story is just so much CRAP!

Every two bit psychic fraud made claims after 9/11. Amazingly NO ONE said anything BEFORE.

Sorry. I cannot believe this drivel.
And I don't believe this fraud is a prophet.

When God says something, He is NEVER vaugue. no Biblical prophet ever said, "I feel something will happen in early fall in the next year or three, and boy oh boy, will it be impressive!" REAL prophecy is specific. God was never afraid to speak his mind, He never beat around the burning bush, He just said it.

My Conclusion: Its crap.

13. Interesting story.
Although I wouldn't take too much stock in it, because of the vagueness of the prophecy, it is interesting.
What else can you tell us? Is this guy still around?

15. Which quatrain did he put it in?
j/k I don't know if the rest will be accurate. I am not a prophet, but I think it's possible. There are people that want retribution for their causes.

16. I was asked on another thread if I was bailing on my post
here.
The answer is no. While I certainly expected no less than skepticism from my fellow DU'ers, some of the responses were a little harsher than I expected.

So let me just say these things.

This prophecy was told to me prior to 9/11. No I cannot prove it, but it happens to be the truth.

No, he did not know the year the event would happen, but did state specifically the month, the portion of the month, the location and one of the the most quoted comments about 9/11 in the days immediately following the horror.

I realize some people do not believe in prophecy. I do. I believe we still have prophets among us as well as false prophets. Only time will tell if the remainder of his prophecy comes to pass.

The pastor is deceased. He and his wife were killed in a car wreck a couple of years ago. He lived in Colorado Springs at the time I was told about this.

Ridicule me if you wish, but I posted this with the best of intentions. For those who do not believe in prophecy, please, feel free to roll your eyes and make fun of me. Those of you who do believe, please book mark this thread and maybe we will visit it again some day.
I hope not, but I think we probably will.
