Rumors of delay in Iraq elections sweep Washington, Baghdad
Rumors of delay in Iraq elections sweep Washington, Baghdad

http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=f4176fdcbb87cfae

Rumors are beginning to circulate in Baghdad and around the Washington Beltway that Iraq's much-anticipated Jan. 30 elections may be postponed.

For the moment these are merely rumors. Rumors? Or are they rather "feelers" being put out to gauge the public's reaction?

Despite strong insistence from the Bush administration -- and particularly from the president -- that the elections must proceed regardless of the roadblocks that may impede comprehensive balloting, the reality on the ground may force events to follow a different course.
snip...
Voting was delayed in Afghanistan in order to include more factions. In an editorial published in the Washington Post Pachachi states that "it is far more important for Iraqis to accept the legitimacy of the election results, whatever they might be, than the elections be held on a particular day in a country that has not known elections for 50 years."

According to the Washington rumor mill, postponement of the elections was the reason Prime Minister Allawi phoned President Bush on Monday. But these are only rumors. Or are they?

Its going to be hard to go to the voting booth worried if your going to be killed when you vote!!!

1. No...
This can't be true.

The monkey says that the elections will take place on time.

The monkey is always right, and as soon as everyone gets blown up at the polls, or doesn't even show up...

The monkey can say they had an election that was fair and square, just like the one we had.

Asshole.

2. bush remains insistent because it's about saving face. Or maybe
it's about saving his ass. Face - ass - heck, with him, they're interchangeable.

But it's because he's staking his "reputation" on it. His almighty word as the new American godhead and latter-day "messiah."

He doesn't give a rat's ass about whether people are in danger there and fearful for their lives about voting, or monitoring the vote, or observing the vote, or supervising the polls, or any of it. He only cares because he can't be made to look like he's wrong on something. After all, this is the guy who seriously believes he's made no mistakes, and has nothing for which to apologize.

Asshole.

6. I betcha it really doesn't matter to anyone outside of
a small circle of friends anyway......

Try this, ask anyone you know that isn't politically involved when the elections are scheduled to be held in Iraq and they will look at you like your speaking gibberish....

Just a hunch.....

8. The farce election will take place in the US and other countries
like they have been saying. Voting booths are being set up in major cities. It's classic rw hogshit, interesting to see that the people in Iraq are wiser to it than the shit for brains citizens in the USA.
