The Democratic Party is comatose.
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 10:36 PM by Cascadian
Did anybody get to see the Senate coverage today on CSPAN? Unfortunately, I could not due to work but from the coverage bits I did see and have read online, I feel justified in not being in the Democratic Party. Where in the hell was the Democratic leadership? There was no real debate. It's as if they did not lift a finger in the issue of what happened in Ohio. The only senator I saw with any balls was Barbara Boxer (Kudos to her!). I am downright disgusted right now.

I also want to salute Ohio Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones for fighting the good fight in bringing the issue of voting irregularities in her home state.

Even with Boxer and Tubbs Jones standing up to the neocons, what we has been witnessed today, it is safe to say that the Democratic Party is dying. Unless more Democrats get a spine in the House and Senate, and unless Howard Dean gets the nomination as DNC chair, the Democratic Party will be dead. It will be nothing more than useless token opposition party. The Republicans will be one more step closer to turning America into a one-party state.

John

1. The Democratic Party has been dying for quite a while.
I even think it was heading downhill during the Clinton Presidency. The Right Wing has commandeered Christianity and used it as a tool to trick working people into voting Republican. The Republicans have mastered sound bites, learned to masterfully exploit social issues, and are experts in the art of propaganda and lies. The Democrats push a middle of the road agenda, and attempt to fully explain their platform in detail. The Democratic leadership hasn't yet picked up on the fact that the attention span of Americans has dramatically decreased since the glory days of Roosevelt.

2. Democrats are more alive than ever
Thanks to Dean. We are more popular than ever with Kerry getting an all time record number of votes.

It is America Joe Six Pac who can't see beyond Monday Night Football, and who believes Bush is a warrior who will protect us all from any old bogeyman, imagined or real who is comatose. Then you throw the Rapture nuts in.

Democrats are doing just fine. Bush and his phony economy, war, and religion will hang himself.

with raygun. we are seeing a propped up embalmed corpse. i'm with BGL, waiting for dean to start his own party. sadly, i just don't trust the democratic party and it's "leaders" anymore.
