Was Jesus Tortured? Not according to Gonzales.
He was just "strongly questioned" and it wasn't that big of a deal because some people who looked like him were terrorists.

It was a lovely thing to wake up to this morning -- a discussion of whether or not chopping people's fingers off constituted "torture" with the nominee for Attorney General of the United States on the side of "not" and the cheerful thought that, hey, this guy's opinions were what made Abu Gharab and Guantanamo possible.

My favorite bit was where Gonzales said it didn't matter if people were tortured, because the President of the United States is above the law, and if he wants someone tortured, then its legal.

But be of good cheer, because under the Gonzales interpretation, most of what Saddam Hussein did WASN'T torture, either.

The story ended on an upbeat note: nobody can stop him from being confirmed.

Let's take that as a challenge. Call your Reps, people, especially if they are Republicans. Ask your family and friends to make phone calls, too, because this man is a lunatic, and anyone who votes for him is basically saying TORTURE IS OKAY.

We aren't that far gone. (That's not a question.) Let's find a sane person for the job, okay?

1. The crucifixion was just a fraternity prank...
Let's not blow it out of proportion.

3. This reminds me of...
how tempted I was, having watched the few minutes I could of the gonzalez coverage, to make a sign that reads: Congratulations Satan!
The American people have elected a man that approves of torture. Mission Accomplished!

5. Oh, good point.
Everybody who went to see The Passion was sure emotionally affected by the strong questioning Jesus received.

7. What a great strategy! These should be bumper stickers.
I mean really. A born-again christian authorizes the torture of Muslims after his legal council says "its ok". And, church people line up to demonstrate in suport their bullshit. I get so tired of the republicraps hipocracy.

8. I can't BELIEVE anyone would vote to confirm him.
Teddy Kennedy tore him a new one. It was amazing to hear. But... they expect to confirm the monster anyway???

What would be too much? Would they care if he applied the electrodes himself?

Oh, right. SEX is the only real sin anymore. I forgot. :eyes:

I'm going to do my best to fix that.

I won't vote for anyone who agrees to confirm him.

All right: I'm getting on the phone. I'll let you know what I come up with.

11. It could be argued that it was self elected suicide
If the mythology is to be believed, a man that could walk on water and transmute physical matter could not really have torture imposed upon him. Therefore the element of free choice disqualifies the nomenclature of torture.
