Kheph was one of the first DUers I met way back in those dark days after 9-11. He made me feel welcome here, and I know he did the same for you.

There was one issue, above all others, in which I considered him a kindred spirit. The separation of church and state. In Bush's 'America', this is one issue with deep and far-reaching implications for our liberties. Kheph knew it, I knew it, and you do too.

For a while, it drove us to post - always good-naturedly, as was Kheph's way - competing threads in LBN. Often, mine were locked as dupes, for how could one truly compete with this passionate man when it came to uncovering and dissecting whatever breaches of liberty we suffered in One Nation Under Ashcroft?

In memory of his passionate devotion to the cause, I dedicate my donation to Americans United in memory of Scott Lowery.

I will add, Scott had many passions - and no doubt many causes he felt passionately about which would deserve equal consideration. I just picked the one with which we had shared the most common bond. By all means, pick your own, and dedicate it to the Most Gentle of DUers.

I don't remember ever discussing anything with him one-on-one, but he was probably the most important presence on the Latest Breaking News forum. Even now, the majority of threads in there were posted by him. Judging from that and the testaments of those, like you and Will Pitt, who knew him personally, Khephra was incredibly devoted to our cause. It's been said hundreds of times today, but I'll say it again: Khephra will be sorely missed.

He was a good guy to work with in LBN.

16. Yes. kef wanted to expose the rampant fraud of the GOP Christians and

became a great student of that issue.

He understoof the manipulations of RevMoon on the religious right and their so-called leaders who are delivering their followers to Moon and to Bush.

He wanted to collect articles that exposed the lies and the true agenda of these frauds with a "truthout" type system aimed at informing the public on a regular basis.

I hope someone with clout finally realizes that kef's idea was a good one, and we should not fear taking on the right whenever they are lying and especially when they are hiding behind RELIGION to promote their fascist, ONE WORLD ORDER agenda.

What a wonderful observation. Yes, he seemed to be able to pick out the most relevant of topics, but if you feel that this was his passion, then that's good enough for me. 27. I approached one of the mods and asked

what we could do here on the DU to help him or his mom, at the least send her flowers and some cash to help, they said they'd pass it along to the admins and so I've been waiting to see what might pop up -- I thought about setting up a Paypal donation site for his family but didn't want to overstep any bounds here - don't know what to do in a situation like this.

He was such an important part of this community that I felt he deserved something from the DU --

Tho I agree with the sentiments here, I wonder how his mother is doing, I know that funerals can get pretty expensive and most people can use some help in that area.

Thanks for doing THIS at least.

He does deserve the best, as he was one of the very best in our group.

I'll miss his posts and mind terribly, but his spirit is living on.

Scott and I were co-moderators on one of the Boards a few years back. It was my first time, and he was very generous with his time and advice. Of course, he was so diligent in policing the board for Freepers that I hardly ever got to nuke anybody!

RIP Kephra. You never knew how many lives you touched. Until now.
