On Social Security...why not "globalize it?"
The NYT has good articles on this today...

The magazine article crunches the numbers, and is reality-based.

This article is the propaganda article:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/16/politics/16benefit.html?hp&ex=1105938000&en=c341604f5ded2bd6&ei=5094&partner=homepage

And Paul O'Neill has a somewhat interesting, but flawed article here:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/16/opinion/16oneill.html?hp

I have comments on this on my blog (http://mumonno.blogspot.com/2005/01/social-security-topic-of-today-in-nyt.html), but would like to bring up another idea:

Why not "globalize" Social Security? (Note: I want benefits guaranteed at the levels they are, and in NO WAY want to "cut" Social Security. I am just thinking about ensuring that demographics work right no matter what.)

Aging workforces in some places, young workforces in other places...should this be globalized?
