COMMUNITY INTERNET
** BATTLE LINES 2005: COMMUNITY INTERNET
A major storm is brewing over community wireless, as plans by municipalities to provide citizens with affordable broadband access are drawing heavy fire from the powerful telecom lobby, whose tentacles reach well into the pockets of legislators in all 50 states. Mediacitizen writes that too much is at stake for the public to remain silent on this issue.

1. This is an extremely important area. We can't trust the MSM

so we have to do our own person-to-person communication or we might as well give up on the fight to save democracy in this country. It's not just the telecom profits they are concerned about --it's the danger to B*'s totalitarian plans.

(edited to add: I really like your username and I think the original Tom Paine would have too!)

2. Thank you
Many don't notice the "e" so they do not "get it".

3. kick! I believe a book needs to be written ASAP about...
...the evolution of the use of the internet as a tool for political education, communication and organization. Given the totally hijacked state of the MSM, it's all that's between us and the end of hope for this country. The book would serve the purpose of spreading the word for using the internet in this way. It would function on the local and wider levels and would be a way to go back to the ancient way -- person-to-person communication -- while multiplying numbers and ease of messaging. I think it's the next stage necessary for democracy and that DU is the first, primitive prototype of what has to happen.

4. Kick
This seems like a logical idea, but of course they want to kill it. Worth spreading the word about.
