Would you register in NC or VA if you had a choice?
Hey--

Owning homes in each state, I'm registered in VA but spend most of my time in NC. Had been thinking of changing registration so I could be represented by an African-American Dem in Congress rather than a former Dem who voted for impeachment of Clinton and then left the party. But OTOH Gore did a couple of points better in VA than NC so my presidential vote might be more likely to count in VA. Since neither Congressional seat is likely to change hands that argued for leaving my registration in VA. Now the Edwards news swings me back towards the NC option, because a Senate seat will be in play.

There's the possibility than NC legal residence will mean paying much higher state income tax, which I need to look into. But purely from a political calculation, which state would you vote in next year given a choice?
