So who's organizing the elderly to protest this Bush SS turd? |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 08:30 AM by xray s
Image is 90% of the game. Bush is going on his road trip to sell his snake oil. For the next three days the MSM will be reporting on the (hand picked) adoring, dew-eyed crowds that are "enthusiastically" endorsing Bush's dismantling of social security.
So who is going to channel the incredible disgust that most everyone feels about this fraud and convert it into thousands of feet in the street at every Bush event to say LOUD and CLEAR "KEEP YOU FILTHY THIEVING LYING HANDS OFF OF SOCIAL SECURITY"!
There is nothing like a picture of thousands of cane waving pissed off grannies to clear the mind of our public servants.

1. AARP has already gone on record |
|
Having been duped by them in the Medicare Prescription drug fiasco, they have stated that they are against privatization of SS.

2. AARP and Rock the Vote |
|
Just heard on NPR that AARP and Rock the Vote are joining for a campaign to try and educate young people about this whole issue. Sounds like they will have an uphill fight against already implanted misinformation and youths natural distrust of the elderly.

6. Susan Lee, Economist on NPR, PBS The Journal, said yesterday |

that the courts had ruled Social Security a tax and that benefits could be changed by a Congressional vote at any time.

5. Nobody. didn't you hear? The 55-plusses still got theirs. |

In the immortal words of the elderly co-worker at the factory I worked at, when asked why the older employees were rejecting early retirement offers to save the jobs of the younger workers:
"Fuck you young people!"

word of Bush, they are screwed.

And WHO controls Congress? Be very, very, afraid....
They really want it all for their Pioneer and Ranger buddies, don't they?

7. Bush can't touch the elderly's SS benefits |
|
Keep in mind that the House of Representatives is the actual body that must implement these changes. A vote to cut benefits for people who are currently receiving them is a political death wish.
I bet they wouldn't get a single vote from anyone planning to run for political office again -- if it included cutting benefits for current recipients.

10. Bush bought off his most vocal opponents. |
|
His mantra is those 55 and over have nothing to worry about. You know why that is? Because we vote (it's a fact folks, in 2 short days I'll be 56). I seriously hope the rest of geezerdom won't sit on the sidelines and let this moronic idea take hold. I have one word for all of you contemplating the notion: Enron. If you have kids, if you have grandkids, you need to fight against Dubya and his gift to investment brokers. Any of you want a private account? Open one! But leave social security intact just in case everything goes to hell.

14. The rest of geezerdom at least in my neck of the woods is |
|
not letting this die just because they got theirs. Remember they have children and grandchildren that they know Bush is trying to screw.
