7 a.m. -- Hundreds of local residents rally against President Bush's plan to make Social Security's guaranteed benefit a guaranteed gamble.

2. The protests are underreported
I remember when seniors were pounding on Rostenkowski's car and mobbing him everywhere he went until Congress relented on Social Security reform years back. I expect no less this time around.
