27. Exactly. A huge point to be emphasized, IMO |
|
Bush hasn't even made himself safe. Remember the Afghanistan Northern Alliance's Ahmed Shah Massood killed by a suicide bomber with a news camera?
We ought to develop this point about Gannon and drive it home.

If you listened to the exchanges between the two. Bush knew exactly what he was going to ask at press conferences.

4. I'm not sure if he knows that his fake Q&A sessions... |
|
with fawning supporters are not real.
He doesn't strike me as particularly inquisitive, more like a man that accepts what he's told by his handlers and blunders about when not propped up by them.

20. That may be true on policy but not when it comes to political warfare. |
|
He was a strategist who traveled heavily throughout the South with Atwater and Rove, pushing the envelope for dirty tricks.

29. You're right, Bush may be no genius on policy but on the nasty stuff... |
|
I bet he's in there conspiring with Rove all the time on the political warfare part of the operation. He leaves the boring policy stuff to Cheney.
Don't misunderestimate him. Bush is a nasty piece of work.

A DUer found the clip inside of a Daily Show archive http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=1580868Bush clearly calls him by his first name and addresses him warmly.

...Is It In The Script?
Li'l Dubbie doesn't know anything they don't tell him to know. Karl Rove, Cheney...THEY knew. Gannon and Li'l Dubbie are just actors in their little play. And as we've seen, any time either Li'l Dubbie and Gannon go off-script, it's a farce.

8. That is what I was wondering |
|
Bush knew his name, and was very warm towards him.
I asked this question on another thread but got no response -- but how exactly does one acquire a WH daily press pass?
As far as I can tell, "Talon News" = Jeff Gannon. The web site, which is only a couple of years old, is a joke. It's clearly the work of one guy with zip of an operating budget. The "reporters" are volunteers! I'm guessing this guy is nothing but a freeper with energy. Heck, BartCop has more credentials as a news outlet than Talon News.
How the heck did this guy manage to get into a WH press conference and sit 4 rows away from the president, when his "news organization" is only a very primitive blog?
I'm guessing someone was pulling strings for him.
His question also got airplay on CNN on the evening of the press conference, so clearly other Rovians wanted "The Voice" heard by the American people. CNN didn't bother to check him out either.
Doesn't the WH pool of reporters feel a little pissed off that some blogger of two years with a "degree" from Morton Blackwater's 2 day journalism course gets to sit with them and has equal access to the president?

9. only if he listened to press briefings |
|
Gannon was sooo partisan in his questions that IF * watched the briefing he would had to have at least asked who the guy was if he did not know. But if * never even watched the press briefings he could be in the dark - as he would be about whatever was brought up in the briefing. Either way he exhibited a failure of leadership.

16. of course, they all knew he was a plant. |
|
he's there to help Bush pull his stones out of the fire.
If a "tough" question gets asked by one of the other reporters, Bush could call on this guy immediately afterwards to serve him up a big fat softball question.
This administration is just one straight propaganda line after another.
Interesting how this "mystery man" can gain access to the frickin' White House while legitimate reporters whom this administration doesn't like (Russell Mohkiber) because they ask "hard" questions and go out of their way to prevent them from attending their rare press conferences.
Try to attend a Bush Nuremburg Rally and you find yourself having to sign "Loyalty Oathes". If your a rightwing lunatic faux reporter serving up softballs on a platter, why no problem, step right this way.

they are and what they stand for. He was another paid shill and a lot more. I just wish some really honest associate would come out and spill the beans on Gannon and the entire Rover press corp operation.

- Bush is incredibly stupid
- Bush barely knows the names of any of the press corps
- Bush probably doesn't listen to the questions (since he never really answers them)
- Bush is arrogant enough to believe that all reporters should ask him padded, soft, strictly right wing and agenda-driven questions.

26. I don't know that one can assume that Bush knows much of anything. |
|
I rather get the impression that the only thing he knows is that he's having a wonderful time playing at being President, and the details are things he leaves to other people who tell him what to think, what to say, and what to do.

28. Of course he knew. Just like he knowingly LIED about Iraq's "threat" |
|
and "wmd".
Just like he's knowingly LYING about social security.
Only very stupid people could possibly believe so many Americans and most the world knew Iraq was no threat & had little to no WMD...except bush.
Only very stupid people could possibly believe bush's own actuary hasn't told bush his plan makes SS worse off, when said actuary even said so publicly.
Only very stupid people could possibly believe bush doesn't take a very personal interest in who gets into the WH Press Corps.
And if bush were THAT STUPID that he didn't know about any of the above, then he's FAR TOO STUPID to be holding any kind of office.
