Crazy man, cray.

If the guy wanted to beat off to that chick THAT BAD "google" would've been sufficient.

4. Seems they're paying for the artist, not her.
His other piece sold for more than that.

From what I saw of the Moss painting, I don't see the big deal.
Not to mention that her weight at pregnancy is still WAY smaller than normal nonpregnant women, which is frightening.

The artist can draw that kind on money, that's why it went for what it did.

But: Millions can live in Poverty and Millions can be on the edge.

Wars can rage, economies can collapse, people can die, and yet, and yet...

8. The guy is a great painter but........
art is not about art for people who pay that kind of money for a piece,it's about investment and piggery. As far as the subject ?
blah blah he is really old so atleast we don't have to put up with another art star.

9. What makes an artist's work worth millions?
I was going to post something along those lines. There have been threads like this before, and the answer is always "art is in the eye of the beholder". But if that is true, what makes some artists' work so much better in the eyes of so many that it is priceless?

Everywhere I look I see "the emperor's new clothes". It seemes like SOME people (not all by any means) just wish for the acclaim that comes from owning a master work.

10. Lucian Freud, established, respected artist is Sigmund's grandson
and as noted right there is one of Britain's greatest living artists. This is not entirely out of line.
But for your next 'hey it's not entirely rational and let's question it's value' rant, maybe you'll want to bash on Christo's "Gates" going up now in Central Park.

11. It's a Lucian Freud!
it's be worth that much if it was a picture of his dog. Sad but true.
He's weird, but great and famous.

Remember, that's 7 million dollars not spent on war! A victory for the poor!

Donovan McNabb getting 4 million a year?

They are both entertainment.

Nobody is asking if McNabb is getting paid too much and the Eagles owner ahould fork over part of his salary to the poor.

15. If you drive a car that cost more than $1,200
then complaining about how rich people spend their surplus is pure hypocrisy, IMO.

Same goes if you pay for high-speed internet service. That's money you could have given away, as well.

I've seen people make better pictures using MSPaint.

Anyways as they say, a fool and his money are soon parted.
