Some "reporter" ol' "Jeff Gannon" is.
He must drive his editor nuts:

Jeff Gannon
A Voice of the New Media

The voice goes silent.

Because of the attention being paid to me I find it is no longer possible to effectively be* a reporter for Talon News. In consideration of** the welfare of me and my family*** I have decided to return to private life.

Thank you to all those**** who supported me.

*Split infinitive
**should be "for"
***should mention his family first, and himself, second.
****"those" is unnecessary.

Well, that's what I'd tell him if I were his editor. Two sentences and four mistakes; can you believe it?

Hope I didn't make any mistakes in this post. :)

4. I like this mistake:
"No I was not quote unquote a journalist quote unquote. "

so that's 'No I was not "" a journalist ""'.

You only need one 'quote unquote'; its meant to modify whatever comes after it; it is assumed that what follows is between the quote and the unquote.

10. And it's not "unquote", it's end quote.
To quote "speak English properly" end quote.

But then even our REAL journalists are barely literate nowadays, let alone the freepo-fascist fake ones.

11. And it's not "unquote"...
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 06:34 AM by Spider Jerusalem
it's "close quote". (or, as observed above, "end quote".)

12. I never understood why people talk like that in the first place...
Why do they put the quotes together, instead of putting them where they -- quote, unquote -- belong?

8. Our Children is Learning!
He attended a course on The Joys of Conservative Newspeak, and I'm sure it reshuffled his synapses on a basic level.

Surely you're being a bit picky with the split infinitive business, though!

(whenever I see grammar like that, I take a mental blue pencil to it, but I usually refrain from saying anything...I can dispense with good manners here, though.)
