....On Wednesday, the White House told Talon News that they were unaware of Ambassador Wilson being selected by the CIA and did not comment on whether anyone in the administration asked the CIA why a partisan would be sent on the mission to Niger.

McClellan was equally reluctant to comment on a Talon News question asking if anyone in the administration was concerned that Clinton holdovers were undermining the President.

"I think that the president has assembled a team that is working together to implement his priorities. We have a strong team that is in place that is trying to implement what the president's focus is," McClellan said....

McClellan added, "The Justice Department wants to get to the bottom of this. The American people want us to get to the bottom of this. So that's a shared goal, and ... that's why we are working cooperatively with the Department of Justice to get to the bottom of this. And, as I said, the sooner the better." (Note: ha ha ha ha!)

He was a delegate to the 2000 Republican Convention in Philadelphia and was vice chairman at large of the Young Republican National Federation. In July 2003 he spoke on "Should Americans Who Don't Pay Taxes Have a Say?", asserting those who do not pay actual cash as a tax collected by the Federal Income Tax should not have a vote - no other tax collection payment should qualify one for a vote, but would give everyone the vote once the Federal Income Tax is replaced by a consumption tax.
