The difference is really only that Hume's hacking and shilling is disguised better than Jeff Gannon's and therefore is more dangerous in some ways.

No Smell Fumes fan here, but the man did actually attend a real journalism school and worked for a legitimate news operation (ABC) before he became Lord of The Lies on Faux.

Despise this wingnut talking head as you might, but he's fairly well known now to be right wing and this is what you expect when you turn on his TV Treehouse.

"Gannon" was a ringer...a deliberate plant by the GOOP to influence press conferences and news coverage of this regime by the "legimate" media...newspapers like the Washington Post & New York Times...mainstream television networks and wire services. "Gannon" was also there as a warning to the other "puppies" in the press gallery who runs the shop there and behave or face being "Helen Thomas'd".

Professional simply means someone gets paid to do something...write, report or smear. They're all professionals. Now what type...that's your call.
