The distance between common Americans and the class that occupies
the seats of government ( Executive Branch, Congress and the Supreme Court), the Press/Media and the corporate bigwigs is so great that one wonders if we can ever think of ourselves as a democracy/Republic anymore.Add to this mix the nonstop propaganda on behalf of the power elite and the deliberate stealing of elections and the coopting of "journalists" by bribes or threats and what we have become is a facsimile of the Banana Republics that we used to sneer at.

The other day I found it amusing that a multimillionaire like Tim Russert was putting on fake airs about being just one of the guys. I guess that is why he can call George Bush a down to earth fellow.Laughable but typical.

1. Many empires have taken this path, thus contributing to their own demise.

2. Some day the hypocrisy of this democracy will be addressed...
Scenario 1: We take back the U.S. and work towards making up for the hypocrisy of our past.

Scenario 2: The wealth and power cabal that is turning us into slaves and serfs will flat out announce that democracy in America as we've been told it exists, does indeed not exist and then they will go on to tell us what they have done to us, ending it by saying you're either with us or against us.

Anyone who votes for Republicans and sees this in the future is a co-conspirator in the theft of our country. Some can't see it, yet.

3. see, either way is ok...
bc if we win, that's great...but if we lose...the UN and basically all the countries around the world would waste no time invading and ending the corrupted gov't, at least if they cared about the common people who had nothign to do with bush.

can you imagine iranian troops freeing LA, and Dutch troops going through NYC?

it'd be an interesting day for the world.

4. I was watching a movie called
The House of The Spirits http://winonacentral.tripod.com/films/spirits.html the other night and realized we are not becoming a banana republic, we are....

The movie showed how after many years the Democratic liberal party won the election, but the Conservative party would not accept it and made a deal with the rebel army to take over the country....
